The Best of the Day preview slips one past the goalkeeper with A-League tips for a Tuesday night showdown between Newcastle Jets and Perth Glory.
19:35 (AEST) @ Hindmarsh Stadium, Adelaide
History: Played 1: Macarthur 1 V Adelaide 0
Last meeting: February 12, 2021: Macarthur 4 d Adelaide 0 at Campbelltown Stadium
Final thoughts: Just five points separate the top six teams in the A-League. The Best of the Day preview breaks down a pivotal clash between fourth-placed Adelaide United and fifth-placed Macarthur FC, who are locked on 26 points.

Adelaide, who have played one less game than their Wednesday night opponents, are aiming for their first win in April.
After going on a scorching six-match winning streak, the Reds lost 2-1 at Central Coast before drawing 1-all at home to Western Sydney. Louis D’Arrigo’s red card just before halftime – when his side led 1-0 – proved crucial.
Adelaide have scored just three goals in their last three games after netting 15 in their previous five.

Like Western United last season, Macarthur FC have set a course for a debut-season finals appearance with eight wins and two draws from 16 games.
But their three-match winning run – including victories to nil over Wellington and Perth – ended via a 2-1 home loss to Brisbane last weekend.
Adelaide will have retribution on their minds after being embarrassed 4-0 by the newcomers in February.
After a scoreless first 65 minutes at Campbelltown, the Bulls exploded with four late goals – including a hat-trick to Matt Derbyshire.
Derbyshire is second in the A-League’s goalscoring race with 10. Stefan Mauk (6) is Adelaide’s leading scorer.
D’Arrigo’s suspension compounds Adelaide’s heavy injury toll. But they are 5-1-1 at home this season. Macarthur have an impressive five wins from eight away games, but I’m backing the hosts to carry off the Best of the Day spoils – and second place on the ladder.
