Final thoughts: The Best of the Day preview breaks down the last game on today’s NBA docket between the Sacramento Kings and Chicago Bulls.

The 8-10 Kings sit ninth in the Western Conference. After losing three of their previous four, they grabbed a 100-97 overtime upset against the heavyweight Nuggets two days ago.

Aside from a game-high 30 points, Harrison Barnes’ leadership came to the fore in a very encouraging team performance.

Meanwhile, second-year guard Buddy Hield continues to progress. He racked up 41 points – including 11 threes – in a recent one-point road loss to the Celtics.

The 6-14 Bulls have slipped to 12th in the East after a bad finish to November. They have won just two of their last nine – including home and away losses to the Blazers either side of a convincing defeat to the struggling Warriors in their last three.

Zach LaVine is dominating the Bulls’ stat-lines. He nailed 13 threes plus the game-winner in a 49-point night against the Hornets in their most recent victory. Rookie guard Coby White has impressed so far this season.

The Kings are on a four-game winning streak against the Bulls, including a pair of resounding victories last season.

Sacramento romped to a 108-89 win in Chicago and prevailed 129-102 at home.

The Kings are 5-3 at Golden 1 Center this season; the Bulls are 3-7 on the road.

Sacramento are one of the NBA’s best teams against the line so far this season (12-6), while the Bulls are bottom-five (8-12).

The Kings should be a Best of the Day lock. But all five of their home wins were by eight or less and this could be tighter than expected.
