History: Played 12: Sixers 8 V Renegades 4
Last meeting: December 13, 2020: Sixers d Renegades by 145 runs at Blundstone Arena
Final thoughts: The Best of the Day preview breaks down Melbourne Renegades’ bid for BBL redemption against Sydney Sixers.
The Renegades crashed to the heaviest defeat in BBL history – 145 runs – when they met the Sixers in Hobart 16 days ago.
Opener Josh Philippe (95 off 57) led the assault, while Jordan Silk’s quickfire 45 off 19 helped power the Sixers to 4/205. Every Renegades bowler went for at least 9.25 runs per over.
A career-best BBL score of 95 from 58 balls. You'd be mad not to have Josh Philippe in your @Dream11 BBL Fantasy team, right?

In reply, the Renegades were bowled out for just 60. No Melbourne batsman managed more than 13 as Ben Dwarshuis (4/13), Steve O’Keefe (3/16) and Carlos Braithwaite (2/12) tore through their line-up.
The 1-3 Renegades’ fortunes have hardly improved since. They went down to the Hurricanes by six wickets in their next assignment and copped another almighty beatdown from the Thunder on Boxing Day.
The Thunder racked up a BBL season-high 8/209 and skittled their opponents for just 80 – another glaring indictment on the Renegades’ bowling and batting.
Time to get back on track.

The Sixers’ aforementioned romp was the beginning of a three-game winning streak.
A sensational knock from Dan Christian (50 off 16) headlined a 38-run win over the Strikers. Daniel Hughes (96 off 51) led a thrilling one-wicket win with one ball to spare over the Stars in a Boxing Day classic. Braithwaite’s (21 off 12) late hitting also proved vital.
🤯 Re-live the crazy final over from what many are calling one of the best @BBL matches of all time!
Still buzzing after this one! 🙌

The teams’ respective formlines could not be much more disparate. But the Renegades are only slight underdogs at $2.15, providing punters with excellent Best of the Day value in backing a highly likely Sixers victory.
