LAFC lead the Western Conference with a record of 16 wins and four draws from 23 league outings. The Red Bulls sit fourth in the East, having won 11 and drawn four of their 24 games.
Since a derby loss to LA Galaxy, LAFC have won their last two against Atlanta United (4-3) and New England (2-0).
Carlos Vela has scored an MLS-high 22 goals this season, including six in LAFC’s last six games. Vela is also equal-second on the assists charts with 13.

Ominously for New York, LAFC have collected 28 of a possible 30 points in their 10 home games this season. A scoreless draw with Chicago Fire in May is the only result preventing them from boasting a perfect record at Banc of California Stadium.
The Red Bulls have struggled for consistency over the last couple of months. The 2018 Eastern Conference finalists put away Toronto FC 2-0 last weekend but have not won back-to-back games since June 1.
Daniel Royer is their top scorer with 11 goals – including four in the Red Bulls’ last six games.

The Red Bulls have managed just three wins and three draws in 11 away games this season.
The clubs have met just once previously, with a goal from Royer in each half leading the Red Bulls to a 2-1 home win.
But given LAFC’s imposing home record and New York Red Bulls’ erratic form, the chances of a Best of the Day upset look remote.
