Final Thoughts: Toronto Raptors are looking to go 3-0 since the NBA’s restart when they meet an Orlando Magic side on a back-to-back.
Toronto took advantage of a leg-weary Lakers to win their first seeding game, 107-92. Kyle Lowry (33 pts, 14 reb, 6 ast) was on fire for the defending champs.
Fred VanVleet took the back-court reins two days later in a 107-103 victory over the Heat, scoring a career-high 36 points and hitting seven threes. Pascal Siakam (22 pts, 6 reb) and Lowry (14 pts, 8 reb, 5 ast) were also strong.
The 48-18 Raptors are gathering steam as a genuine threat to the Bucks’ supremacy in the East.
Meanwhile, the 32-36 Magic have essentially wrapped up their spot in the playoffs with a 7.5-game lead on the ninth-placed Wizards.
The NBA bubble’s defacto home team opened up their restart campaign with wins over the depleted Nets (128-118) and lowly Kings (132-116). Their run ended when they met a quality team in the Pacers, going down 120-109.
Big man Nikola Vucevic has been in good touch at Disney World, averaging 23 points and 9.3 rebounds.
Magic’s spell no match for Raptors’ bite
The Raptors have 23 of their last 28 against the Magic, including the last four straight. The teams have met three times already this season, with Toronto winning each by seven-plus.
Toronto’ record against the start (37-28-1) is the third-best in the NBA. Orlando (33-33-2) are ranked 15th. Both teams have over records comfortably above 50 percent.
The Magic are 1-9 in the second game of a back-to-back this season and should be easy pickings for balanced Raptors outfit that has hit the ground running.
