History: Played 118: Bucks 66 V Clippers 52
Last meeting: November 6, 2019: Bucks 129 d Clippers 124 at Staples Center
Final Thoughts: Two of the NBA’s big guns lock horns as the Milwaukee Bucks host the LA Clippers. This will also be the first showdown between reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and mercurial then-Raptor Kawhi Leonard since last season’s Eastern Conference Finals.
Leonard was controversially rested from the Clippers’ 129-124 loss to the Bucks at home early last month. ‘The Greek Freak’ duly dominated for the visitors, racking up 38 points, 16 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Eric Bledsoe (20 pts, 6 reb) and George Hill (24 pts) also made solid contributions.
Montrezl Harrell and Lou Williams took a rare opportunity in the starting line-up to drop 34 points apiece. Harrell also had 13 rebounds and 5 assists, while Williams added 6 rebounds and 11 assists.
Bucks and Clippers in dominant form
Kawhi will be on deck for the 16-6 Clippers – along with Paul George, who is three weeks into his comeback from injury. The Clippers have won nine of their last 10, pumping the Hawks (150-125) and Trail Blazers (117-97) at home over the past week.
Almost unbeatable, the Clippers need to improve on a 3-5 away record.
The 19-3 Bucks lead the Eastern Conference and are on an imposing 13-game winning streak. Their victories over the Hornets, Knicks and Pistons over the past week came by an average margin of 36.7 points.
Antetokounmpo is averaging 31 points, 13.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists. Meanwhile, the Bucks are 9-1 at home on the season.
This could be an early entrée to the NBA Finals. The Clippers boast more quality across the floor and off the bench, but Giannis and the Bucks’ support cast are in a menacing groove. Side with Milwaukee – who are ranked second in the NBA in both the offensive and defensive catgeories – at home here.
