Final Thoughts: The top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks had take a couple of big steps towards franchise’s first NBA Finals appearance since 1974. The Toronto Raptors’ big for a maiden NBA Finals berth is on the ropes – a Game 3 win at home is a must for them.
The Raptors led by 11 at the end of the first quarter and by eight at halftime of the Eastern Conference Finals series opener. But the Bucks rallied to a 108-100 victory thanks to a dominant 32-17 final quarter.
Giannis Antetokounmpo (24 pts, 14 reb, 6 ast) was influential, but center Brook Lopez was the scene-stealer with 29 points and 11 boards. Kawhi Leonard (31 pts, 9 reb) and Kyle Lowry (30 pts, 8 reb) were both strong for Toronto, but they were powerless to stop the Bucks’ charge.
The Bucks were more convincing in Game 2, surging to a 125-103 victory after building a 25-point halftime lead.
Antetokounmpo took charge with 30 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists. The Bucks had five other players score 12-plus points. Leonard (31 pts, 8 reb) played something of a lone hand for the disappointing Raptors.
The Bucks have now won six of their last seven against the Raptors.
The Raptors crafted a 32-9 home record in the regular season. They are 5-2 in these playoffs. The Bucks went 27-14 on the road in the regular season and are 4-0 in the playoffs.
If Toronto are to make an impression on this series, it has to start now. But on current form Milwaukee are too hard to pass up as an underdog.
