Final Thoughts: The First Round series between the third-placed Portland Trail Blazers and sixth-placed Oklahoma City Thunder is evenly poised heading into Game 4.
The home team has comfortably won all three games so far. The Blazers hold a 2-1 lead.
The Blazers took out Game 1 at home 104-99, after racing to a 14-point quarter-time lead. Game 2 was more emphatic, Portland carving out 114-94 victory – despite the scores being tied at halftime.
But a big game from Russell Westbrook (33 pts, 11 ast, 5 reb) helped the Thunder to a 120-108 back in OKC.
Westbrook is averaging 24 points, 11 assists and 8 rebounds in the series. His Game 3 performance was an important bounce-back after shooting 5-of-20 from their field in Game 2. Paul George’s shoulder remains a concern for the Thunder, however. Damian Lillard has put up a touch over 30 points per game for the Blazers.
The Thunder clearly relished getting back in front of their home fans, improving their season record at Chesapeake Energy Arena to 28-14. The Blazers are a modest 21-21 on the road, but they won six of their nine regular-season away games.
The Blazers’ main work-on is tightening up their three-point defence. But the Thunder look a sharp bet to level up a 2-all with the home team covering all three games so far in the series.
