Final Thoughts: The Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors square off for a spot in the Eastern Conference Finals in a monster Game 7 at Air Canada Centre.
The Sixers surged to a 2-1 lead in this Semi-finals series with back-to-back wins in Toronto and Philadelphia.
But they looked dead and buried when the Raptors chalked up consecutive victories – 101-96 away and 125-89 at home.
The 76ers pulled off a clutch 112-101 result back in Philly to force the series to a decider, however.
Star load Jimmy Butler (25 pts, 8 ast, 6 reb), Ben Simmons (21 pts, 8 reb, 6 ast) and Joel Embiid (17 pts, 10 reb) shared the load for the Sixers. Meanwhile, Kawhi Leonard (29 pts, 12 reb, 5 ast) played too much of a lone hand for the Raptors.
Leonard has been massive, averaging 31 points and 8.5 rebounds in the series. Big man Pascal Siakam (21.6 points, 6.9 rebounds) has been impressive, but more is needed from Kyle Lowry.
The inconsistency of Embiid and Simmons is Philadelphia’s biggest question mark heading into Game 7.
The 76ers’ Game 2 win snapped a 13-game losing streak in Toronto. But six of their last seven visits to Canada have resulted in defeats by 11 points or more.
The Sixers went 20-21 on the road in the regular season and are 3-2 in the playoffs. The Raptors went 32-9 at home in the regular season and are 4-2 in the post-season.
The over looks a sound play with three of the last four games producing 211 points or more. The Sixers are hunting their first Conference Finals berth since 2001 but the Raptors should thwart them at home.
