Final Thoughts: Western Conference rivals the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder meet for the first time this season as they both aim to consolidate their place in the top half of the standings.
The 24-18 Spurs have climbed to seventh after overcoming a horror start to the season. The perennial post-season fixtures have won 13 of their last 17, but a five-game tear ended with a 10-point loss in Memphis yesterday.
Despite a quiet game against the Grizzlies, DeMar DeRozan is averaging 22.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 6.4 assists in a superb campaign.
The 25-15 Thunder sit third but are hoping to arrest a two-game slide. They have been upset at home by the Wizards (116-98) and Timberwolves (119-117) in their last two.
Russell Westbrook is averaging a triple-double (21.2 pts, 10.8 reb, 10.3 ast), while Paul George has also been massive (26.8 pts, 8.0 reb, 3.9 ast).
All four encounters between the teams last season were won by the home team. The Thunder have lost their last six straight regular-season games in San Antonio. Eleven of their last 12 regular-season clashes produced totals of 205 points or less.
The Thunder are a decent 12-9 on the road this season. But the Spurs are an outstanding 17-5 at home, winning 11 of their last 12 at AT&T Center. In a flip-of-the-coin game, home-court advantage may be the factor that gets the in-form Spurs over the line.
