Final Thoughts: Could we be seeing the first preview of the 2019 NBA Finals?
The 8-2 Milwaukee Bucks are second in the Eastern Conference with Giannis Antetokounmpo in MVP-contending form.
But the Bucks have lost two of their last three, going down on the road to the Celtics (117-113) and Trail Blazers (118-103) either side of a 35-point demolition of the Kings.
The 10-1 Golden State Warriors are coasting along at the top of the West standings. They have won eight straight – including six by 16 points or more.
Klay Thompson has been in record-breaking three-point form and Steph Curry is also lighting it up on the regular. Kevin Durant had 33 points and 13 rebounds against the Timberwolves on the weekend, while the bench made a big contribution as the Warriors eased past the Grizzlies in their last outing.
The Warriors have won eight of their last 10 against the Bucks, including six by margins of nine points or more.
But the Bucks scored a 116-107 upset at Oracle Arena late in the 2017-18 regular season. Antetokounmpo top-scored with 32 points and Eric Bledsoe made a strong all-round contribution. But it should be noted the Warriors were without ‘Splash Brothers’ Curry and Thompson that day.
Draymond Green is sidelined for this encounter, however, which makes the Warriors’ task of handling ‘The Greek Freak’ that much harder. The door is ajar for the Bucks if they can produce their defensive best.
