Saturday’s NBA preview breaks down the feature game between the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks, along with NBA tips for all other matches being played today.
11:30 (AEDT), Sat 23rd Mar @ Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee
History: Played 115: Heat 72 V Bucks 43
Last meeting: March 15, 2019: Bucks 113 d Heat 98 at American Airlines Arena
Final Thoughts: The Milwaukee Bucks hold a two-win lead at the top of the East. The Miami Heat are in a dogfight for a playoffs spot, but have been in fine form.
After winning 13 of their previous 14, the Bucks have lost half of their last 10. Giannis Antetokounmpo sat out their last two games – a 14-point home win over the Lakers and a five-point defeat away to the Cavaliers.
‘The Greak Freak’ is no certainty to line up here for the 53-19 Bucks.
The post-season looked a distant dream for the Heat after they won just four of 13 games in February. But they have improved 35-36 – and eighth in the East standings – thanks to eight wins in 10 games so far this month.
Miami are on a three-game tear, thumping the Hornets at home then upsetting the Thunder and Spurs away. Goran Dragic has been in irrepressible form for the resurgent Heat.
The teams have met three times this season, with the Bucks winning two games to the Heat’s one.
Miami extended their winning streak against Milwaukee to six games with a 94-87 victory at home in December. But the Bucks stopped the rot with a 124-86 blowout at Fiserv Forum in January, and outlasted the Heat 113-98 in Miami last week after trailing by 20 points.
Antetokounmpo (33 pts, 16 reb) was just one assist shy of a triple-double in the latter win. Khris Middleton (21 pts, 8 ast, 5 reb) also contributed strongly.
The Bucks are a dominant 28-6 at home and have won five of their last six at Fiserv Forum. The Heat are 18-16 on the road – decent for where they currently stand – and have won their last three away games.
In-form Miami look a good underdog bet even if Giannis does return from an ankle complaint.
