Final Thoughts: The Golden State Warriors are looking to make short work of the LA Clippers in the Western Conference First Round.
The two-time defending champs breezed to a 1-0 lead with a 121-104 victory in the series opener.
Steph Curry took the reins for the Warriors, going off for 38 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell did their best to inspire the Clippers from the bench, combining for 41 points.
The Warriors have now won 17 of their last 19 against the Clippers. The Clippers have also won just two of their last 19 at Oracle Arena. The teams also met a week ago in Oakland, with Curry top-scoring with 27 points and Draymond Green finishing one assist shy of a triple-double in Golden State’s 131-104 romp.
The 48-34 Clippers limped into the playoffs in eighth spot after losing four of their last seven games. An overtime win over a second-string Jazz in their last regular-season game ended a three-game losing streak, but they currently look a couple of notches below the team that went 13-2 in March.
The 57-25 Warriors won six of their last seven regular-season games to take out the top seed in the West.
The Warriors are 30-11 at home, winning their last six. The Clippers are 22-19 on the road and have lost three straight away from LA.
Golden State started the playoffs in ruthless fashion and appear likely to power to a 4-0 sweep. Difficult seeing the LA Clippers getting close at Oracle with their starting shooters in subpar form.
