Final Thoughts: The Golden State Warriors pegged a game back on the road in their quest for a third straight Championship. But their NBA Finals series against the Toronto Raptors is delicately poised heading into Game 3.
The Raptors rattled the Warriors’ cage with a 118-109 home win in the franchise’s maiden NBA Finals appearance. Forward duo Kawhi Leonard (23 pts, 8 reb, 5 ast) and Pascal Siakam (32 pts, 8 reb, 5 ast) led the charge. Warriors spearhead Steph Curry top-scored with 34 points.
But Golden State responded with a 109-104 victory in Game 2, overturning a five-point halftime deficit. Klay Thompson had 25 pts, while Draymond Green finished one assist shy of a second straight triple-double. Leonard’s game-high 34 points and 14 rebounds were in vain.
Thompson is questionable for Game 3, however, while Kevin Durant’s return has been delayed at least another game. Kevin Looney is also out injured.
Golden State have won 13 of their last 14 against Toronto at home. But the Raptors surged to a 113-93 victory in the teams’ regular-season clash at Oracle Arena – despite Leonard’s absence.
Since their infamous collapse in the 2016 NBA Finals, the Warriors have won 25 of 28 home playoffs. They are currently on a five-match winning streak at Oracle Arena. The Raptors are 4-4 on the road in these playoffs.
The Raptors are a generous $3.35 to win the series, with the Warriors backed into $1.33. But Toronto have a huge opportunity here with Thompson in doubt. Shorthanded Golden State look to be giving up too many points at the line.
