Palmerbet Racing Team previews Wednesday’s big stakes race meeting at Grafton featuring the time honoured Ramornie. Here are our tips for all eight races on the card. Take note – we wish you good luck, punters!
Rail Position: Is true, entire circuit
Track Condition: Soft 5
JET PILOT races for the first time here after being well beaten in barrier trial recently. Copped a check early and was ridden cold after that. Keep safe. MOTHER TO RACE HER gets back but that first up run in the mud when 4th this grade after being 10th for home, spoke volumes about talent. Big show. FOXY’S FOXINATOR is a 2YO and he resumes here. Did trial recently and may be the one. This harder than 2 placings to date, but he is going to come late.
Tip: FOXY’S FOXINATOR
It’s hard to go past a horse who has won 13 races and is in a BM 57 race. VICTORY LASS is that horse and she has Craig Newitt on top too. Big weight but has claims. ISLAND GRANGE has found form and 2 starts back won similar race then not disgraced when 4th this grade last run. Big show. RAVEN’S WING is 2nd up here and just behind placegetters when resuming. Is fitter now.
Tip: ISLAND GRANGE
Difficult race to work out with formlines from everywhere. OCEAN GRAND is out of form but on his day does have the most ability. Just not showing it but down in class here. TEXAS STORM does look the one to beat. He got stood on his head coming to bend last start at Scone, then came with a whirlwind finish in strong Class 1 this trip to grab 5th, after being 15 lengths behind pace at one stage. Watch him late. TEVYE is new here but placed past 2 this grade so that alone needs to be respected.
Tip: TEXAS STORM
JEXERLENT must be getting used to carrying these massive imposts. Has 61.5kg here after the claim yet looks well in at that weight. He is fast and is the class and is in great form. TEN TAUBADA’s is up in grade but is in strong stable and is a last start winner. That adds up to being a threat in this race. EIGHT BELOW needed run when plodding late for 7th when resuming last start. Expect improvement here. Will rally late.
They haven’t missed IT’S RELATIVE following his runaway Class 1 victory last start. He rises 2.5kg and to a handicap as opposed to the set weights last time. That makes a huge difference. But saying that, he strode away down the running. HUSSON’S PRIDE has inconsistent form in Qld but does boast 2 wins from past 4. Hard to line up form here but looms like this trip will actually play in his favour. RISALDAR is very well bred and has foot on till if last start 3rd, working home late from back half of the field over 1400m at Newcastle is anything to go by. Is getting better with every run too.
It’s such a shame BOLD ASSASSIN has drawn so wide. He has the best form leading into this and still looks the one – providing he can find some cover. Which is a tall order this large field. Is fit and ready to run a blinder if he does, however. CAPTIVATOR and HARD RULER are up a little in grade but present as last start winners and have the experience to be running on gamely too. This should be a close finish.
Tip: BOLD ASSASSIN
This year’s rendition looks a dead set clash of class. THE MONSTAR is better than all these on his day. Yes, we recognise that he has a big weight but he will drive forward early from bad draw, get out of trouble and he is fit enough right now to make a mess of these if he’s in the mind to do so. Back in 2014, BIG MONEY won this race then 2 years later under 59kg was beaten a lip into 2nd spot this race. He loves this track and he won a barrier trial the other day in superb manner. Today he carries 56.5kg. ZESTFUL resumes here from a bad gate but is a quality sprinter when ready. Big show.
Tip: 1. THE MONSTAR
Wow – form students will love this race. BRILLIANT JET looks, maps about 6 lengths better than all of these and at the Set Weights, should, theoretically…bolt in. ART ATTACK is brave and honest this grade and always runs a place while the up and coming horse is YOU ES COMMANDER. He keeps improving every run.
