- ROSEHILL - RACE 8
- (2400M)
- March 30, 2024
1. Buckaroo (7)
Looks very hard to beat. Will be having 3rd start this prep and on the quick backup from a terrific effort last weekend when dashing home along the rails for 3rd in the 2000m Ranvet behind what appears to be a superstar in Via Sistine. Has never won this trip but looks a readymade type for a sprint home here. Big danger.

2. Military Mission (10)
Very fine stayer who is more at home this trip when knocked about in straight yet still ran a game 5th last week to Via Sistina in gr 1 over 2000m. Has terrific stats this trip. Respect him.

Ready to Fire
3. Ashrun (1)
This bloke has thrived since coming to live in Australia. Last prep he was just beaten in the Geelong Cup over this journey in good time then backed it up with a game 4th in the Gr 1 Melbourne Cup in super fast time. Two starts since resuming have been strong runs culminating last run with a very impressive Pakenham Cup win over 2500m. Super fit now, handles good or wet tracks and can stay all day. Must be considered.

4. More Felons (2)
Couldn’t have been more impressive when he sailed down the centre of the track last start coming from 13th on bend to claim the 1900m Parramatta Cup in the last bound when resuming. Had previously run 12th in the Melbourne Cup. Interestingly, has met Ashrun twice in his life and finished behind him both times. May do so again here.

Good on Soft
5. Post Impressionist (3)
Looked like a world-beater at Rosehill last week when he stormed home from last on the bend to consummately win the 2400m Manion Cup this trip in very fast time. If he runs that time he wins this. But, he is up 4.5kg against better horses and on a quick backup. saying that, he does look the real deal.

Track Talent
6. Gear Up (6)
Has finally adapted to Aussie way of going and conditions and his win last start at Caulfield in the 2000m Vic Cup underlined that. was on speed all the way. Has won this journey. Up in class here though but will be there for a long way.

7. Kalapour (5)
Working towards a win although saying that this is hardest test for a while. Finish near last in the Melbourne Cup after leading all way to win the Gr 3 Archer stake at Flemington over 2500m. last start was thrashed but did plug on well when 2nd in good time to Lindeman over 2000m. This may test.

8. Bois D'Argent (4)
Drawn perfectly and has the speed to be in the gun spot throughout. Was 4th, after racing that exact same way in the Gr 1 Caulfield Cup last prep this trip. Since was a good 2nd over 2000m at randwick. this is harder and the step up to WFA is a worry but he can stay and has twice run 2:27 for this trip which is fast enough to win this.

Good on Soft
9. Athabascan (11)
Good, honest stayer when right as he showed last prep when narrowly beaten by Kalapour in 2500m Archer stakes. Looked average last start though when well beaten 4th to Lindeman over 2000m. This should test.

Good on Soft
10. Little Mix (8)
has staying talent but this is a mountain too big. Finished hard when 4th last week in a mares 1900m race. This is too hard.

11. Tom Kitten (9)
Unlucky not to win a Gr 1 mile race two runs back in fast time then had every hope when a plodding 6th last week in the Gr 1 Rosehill Guineas. Gives the impression this trip will suit but was average last last week and that’s a concern. place.
