Matty and Spida are back for Grand Final week on In The Pocket, and they’re joined by former AFL cult hero Mitch Robinson as the 2026 season reaches its final chapter. After six months of football and four weeks of finals, it’s all come down to a blockbuster decider between the Fremantle Dockers and the Brisbane Lions. Fremantle is chasing the first premiership in club history, while Brisbane has the chance to complete an extraordinary three-peat.
The boys start by looking back at a pair of thrilling preliminary finals. Fremantle produced a remarkable comeback from 21 points down at three-quarter time to stun Sydney at the SCG and book just the second Grand Final appearance in club history. Meanwhile, Brisbane edged Hawthorn in a preliminary final classic at the MCG, surviving a shootout to keep its premiership defence alive.
Attention then turns to the Grand Final itself, where the league’s best home-and-away side meets the reigning powerhouse of the competition. Fremantle has been one of the standout teams all season and showed enormous resilience to recover from a qualifying final defeat, while Brisbane again finds itself on the biggest stage after another deep September run. The boys discuss whether the Dockers can make history or whether the Lions’ finals experience will prove the difference when the pressure is at its highest.
Joining the show, Mitch Robinson provides his insights into Grand Final week, the mentality required to perform on the biggest stage, and what both clubs will be experiencing in the build-up to Saturday afternoon. With Brisbane chasing a third consecutive flag and Fremantle chasing its first, Robbo also weighs in on the key match-ups and players who could define the result.
To wrap things up, Matty, Spida and Robbo lock in their Grand Final predictions, Norm Smith Medal selections and first goalscorer picks. If you’re after all the biggest AFL talking points, Grand Final analysis and strong opinions ahead of the biggest game of the year, In The Pocket has everything you need for a massive Grand Final week.
