Team News

Knights: Co-captain Jayden Brailey is unavailable due to injury. However, the club have named Kai Pearce-Paul and Jack Cogger to play after being recruited to the team.

Raiders: Rookie sensation Ethan Strange has been awarded a spot in the halves, while Jordan Rapana will play in the fullback jersey. Captain Elliott Whitehead has been ruled out with Zac Hosking taking his position.

What We Like

The departure of Dominic Young means that someone at the Knights needs to step up. Winger Greg Marzhew had a breakout season last year and will be looking to complement the club by scoring the tries that Young has done for multiple seasons.

First Tryscorer Greg Marzhew $7.00

Final Thought

The Newcastle Knights always run wild at home, and this week, they will take on a depleted Canberra Raiders team that has lost two key players, Jarod Croker and Jack Wighton, and has several players out with injury or suspension.

Team News

Warriors: The club will be without Charnze Nicool-Klokstad due to injury, but he will be replaced by Taine Tuaupiki. Other team news sees Roger Tuivasa-Sheck make his NRL debut after a stint in rugby union.

Sharks: Braden Hamlin-Uele is not listed due to injury with the starting front-row consisting of Oregon Kaufusi and Royce Hunt.

What We Like

The Warriors are near unbeatable at home, and this week is no different. The club may be without some players but with the crowd behind them it is hard to see them succumb to defeat.

Margin New Zealand Warriors 1-12 $2.70

Final Thought

The Warriors and Sharks are two attacking powerhouses who love to get points on the board. No difference can be expected as the two teams aim to outdo each other on the field led by Shaun Johnson and Nicho Hynes.

Team News

Storm: Star five-eighth Cameron Munster and prop Nelson Asofoa-Solomona have been ruled out. Ryan Papenhuyzen will play his first game back from injury

Panthers: Jarome Luai is back on deck and will replace Jack Cole in the only change from the club’s World Club Challenge team. Luke Sommerton will also replace Mitch Kenny.

What We Like

The Melbourne Storm will be looking to hang onto their round-one winning streak record, but the Panthers are too strong. The Storm will also be without Cameron Munster, while Jarome Luai will be back from injury.

Half-Time/Full-Time Penrith Panthers/Penrith Panthers $2.10

Final Thought

After failing to win the World Club Challenge against the Wigan Warriors, the Panthers will be ready to pounce from the opening kick-off. Even if you aren’t confident on the match result, Panthers will be the first team to score.

Team News

Eels: Maika Sivo is serving a suspension, meaning Morgan Harper will play his first game in Eels’ colours. Brad Arthur has decided to choose two hookers – Brendan Hands and Joey Lussick – attempting to find the one-two punch combination.

Bulldogs: Stephen Crichton will wear the Bulldogs jersey this week. Cameron Ciraldo has also given club debuts to Drew Hutchison, Jaeman Salmon, Josh Curran, Poasa Faamausili, and Kurt Mann.

What We Like

Whenever the two arch-rivals take on each other, the scoreline is always impressive as the two teams try to outshine each other in the try department.

Total Score (40.5) Over 40.5 $1.90

Final Thought

Although they sat near the bottom of the table last season, the Bulldogs enter this season with a new team headlined by three-time premiership winner Stephen Crichton. With a new team, and the Eels still lacking in the backs, a win should be on the table for the Bulldogs.

Team News

Titans: Jayden Campbell and David Fifita will miss the game through injury, meaning Keano Kini and Klese Haas will come in for them in their respective positions.

Dragons: Despite carrying injury niggles, Jacob Liddle and Blake Lawrie have been cleared to play. Coach Shane Flanagan has decided to shake-up the back-line sticking with Tyrell Sloan at fullback and moving Zac Lomax to the wing.

What We Like

The Titans may be without star duo David Fifita and Jayden Campbell, but it is hard to tip their opponents – the Dragons – considering they had an unsuccessful season last year and have failed to bring in any star recruits for 2024.

Match Result Gold Coast Titans $1.47

Final Thought

Moving positions is a difficult task for most, but AJ Brimson hopes to take full effect of his transition from fullback to the centres. A try would cement a successful transition for the club.

Team News

Dolphins: The club will be without Tom Gilbert after he ruptured his ACL. However, former Broncos Herbie Farnworth and Thomas Flegler will make their club debut.

Cowboys: Veteran Kyle Feldt has run the race to start on the wing, while Kyle Laybutt has been selected and will play his fifth NRL game. Coen Hess is out after sustaining a season-ending injury.

What We Like

After securing the Top Point-Scorer and Top Try-Scorer honours last season, Jamayne Issako will be eager to continue his fantastic form in the club’s opening match.

First or Second Tryscorer Jamayne Issako $6.00

Final Thought

The Dolphins enter the clash as outsiders but have made some elite-level recruitment during the season, bringing in representative duo Herbie Farnworth and Thomas Flegler for the Broncos. Wayne Bennett’s men have a great team on paper and will be looking to translate that on the field.

Match Result Dolphins $2.60
