NRL Round 16 Preview

On top of the NRL ladder at the moment, with the most wins out of any team, it’s hard to see the Raiders losing this week, especially as they don’t have any key players out.

Jed Stuart – the son of Raiders coach Ricky Stuart – will line-up for his first NRL match this week and will be eager to cross the line with his agile footwork and great aerial ability.

With multiple tries, expected to be scored throughout the contest, an underrated choice to select an ‘Anytime Tryscorer’ is Moala Graham-Taufa who will depart the club next season for the Rabbitohs.

In what will likely be a one-sided contest, the Panthers will be without all their State of Origin stars. Meanwhile, the Warriors never look like losing when they play at home in New Zealand.

The Dolphins have been in incredible form as of late, so expect them to completely annihilate their opponents, especially being seen as the home team in Perth.

With the Dolphins producing back-to-back 50+ point performances in the past two weeks, they are in scintillating form and are up against an even weaker defence in the Knights this week.

The Rabbitohs may receive Latrell Mitchell back, but even the superstar fullback won’t be able to turn things around for the home side, who have lacked consistency this season.

Nearing Ken Irvine’s all-time try-scoring record, it’s hard to go past Rabbitohs winger Alex Johnston crossing the line. Tries seemingly always find their way on his edge of the field.

The Broncos may enter the clash as favourites, but they have failed to consistently deliver strong performances on the field, week in, week out.

Since returning back to the field from injury, Sione Katoa has looked like his old self again, but this week will be a test for the Sharks back-line, who are already without duo KL Iro and Mawene Hiroti.

Coming off a dominant win against the Knights, the Roosters will look to make it back-to-back victories this weekend. Meanwhile. the Cowboys are coming off a loss to the Dolphins, which saw them concede 58 points.

Back from State of Origin duties, centre Robert Toia has been one of the shining lights for the Roosters this season and will look to target either Robert Derby or Viliami Vailea (depending on what side he plays on).

The Eels and Titans aren’t highly known for their defence at the moment during this year’s campaign and have continually leaked multiple points on the field.

Without either Dylan Brown or Mitchell Moses playing this week, it’s hard to see them standing a chance, as their attacking style of play normally comes from those two role-players.
