Red Zone Returns – NFL Week 16

An exciting 2025 NFL season kicks into Week 16, and we’re diving into five of the best bets from around the league.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Commanders

The Philadelphia Eagles have drifted out to $9 in the Super Bowl LX market after a disappointing NFL season through 15 weeks. However, with the defence starting to play its part to have held the Las Vegas Raiders to only 75 total yards last week, there is reason to believe the defending Super Bowl champions are finding form.

There is certainly reason to believe this game will finish Under 44.5 points.

The Under has hit in six straight games for the Eagles and we’d need to see the Washington Commanders exceed expectation offensively for it not to be seven.

With Washington choosing to sit Jayden Daniels for the rest of the season, the ceiling of their offensive output lowers with the news. While he threw for 211 yards on the day, Marcus Mariota completed only 10 of his 19 attempts. A similarly low-volume outing is another tick for the Under in this one.

Philly dominated possession last week with the defensive unit needing to play only 42 snaps. Rested and ready ahead of this one, expect the Eagles defence to dominate and keep the Commanders offensive output to a minimum.

Bet Now Under 44.5 Points @ $1.87

Kansas City Chiefs @ Tennessee Titans

With Patrick Mahomes being ruled out for the rest of the NFL season comes opportunity. The general consensus will be against the Kansas City Chiefs, but the numbers are for them covering against the Tennessee Titans.

Gardner Minshew is 4-0 straight up and against the spread when starting as a road favourite. He has cleared 27+ points in all four of those games, too. He’s one of the most experienced backup quarterbacks in the NFL and has the benefit of Andy Reid in his corner while playing on the back of what is still a very good defence.

Steve Spagnolo will cause Cam Ward and the Titans plenty of problems. Despite results not going their way, Kansas City have conceded only 36 points across the last two weeks with their offensive struggles the reason for defeat.

While the Chiefs offensive issues are unlikely to be fixed without Mahomes, the Titans have their own. They lack firepower and play a conservative style. The talent gap between the two teams is still in Kansas City’s favour. The drop from -11.5 to -3.5 in the wake of Mahomes injury feels like an overreaction when you consider where the Chiefs’ strengths have lay this season.

Expect the defence to do enough to earn a relatively comfortable win.

Bet Now Chiefs -3.5 @ $2.03

Los Angeles Chargers @ Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys fell to the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football all but ending their season to now be $61 to make the playoffs. America’s Team has little to play for heading into this one.

How can we expect an already terrible defence to lift their game here?

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers are genuine Super Bowl LX contenders and play with an elite defence.

While Dak Prescott and the Cowboys don’t often have problems moving the ball, Minnesota got the better of him through 21 pressures last week. Facing a Chargers front of Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu, Prescott will have a tough time of it in Week 16.

To make things more difficult for the Cowboys offence, the Rams shorten the game with long drives. They dominate possession and keep the ball out of the hands of the opposing quarterback. With Justin Herbert playing efficient and mistake-free football at the moment, he shouldn’t have any problems keeping possession against a lackluster defence.

Bet Now Rams +1.5 @ $1.95

Buffalo Bills @ Cleveland Browns

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills have made things more difficult than they needed to be over the last few weeks. While winning, it hasn’t always been pretty. However, they’ve always put up points in the end to average 33.3 points per game.

Allen is back in the MVP conversation with eight touchdowns and no interceptions in December. He looks good to add to his argument against the Cleveland Browns this week, too.

Cleveland’s defence was the backbone of any early-season success they had but has regressed of late. Injuries have decimated the team and translated into poor execution. As a result, they’ve allowed 400+ yards of offence in back-to-back weeks. James Cook could be the big beneficiary. Buffalo is 10-1 when he records 100+ scrimmage yards. If the Brown over-commit to Allen in the air, Cook can cash in on the ground.

When you combine the fact that Buffalo ranks 1st in the NFL in red zone touchdown efficiency over the last month to have converted on 82% of their trips, Cleveland will struggle to keep this one close.

Bet Now Bills -10.5 @ $1.93

New England Patriots @ Baltimore Ravens

This is a classic get-right spot for the Baltimore Ravens, and it comes at a prime come-down spot for the New England Patriots.

Enough can’t be said about how impressive the Patriots have been this season and how far beyond expectations they’ve performed. However, they come against a Ravens that profiles well to expose their biggest weakness.

Under the weather or not, Lamar Jackson is still one of the most dangerous run threats in the NFL alongside Derrick Henry. They’ll be backing themselves against a run defence that has fallen to 28th in rushing success rate over the last month. Ranked inside the top eight in offensive DVOA, the Ravens offence should find their own success. In the red zone, in particular.

New England is performing at historically poor levels in red zone defence. The rank dead last in the NFL in red zone defence to allow touchdowns on 75% of opponent trips. Over their last three games, that number has blown out to 85.7%.

Public sentiment will favour an 11-3 Patriots side following a close loss to the Buffalo Bills. The wise play is to back the Ravens, though. They’re better than the .500 record suggests and look especially dangerous against this opponent.

Bet Now Ravens -2.5 @ $1.90
