Week 14 of the NFL season is complete, so we’re casting an eye over every game, identifying the big takeaways and digging into the markets.
The Detroit Lions kept their NFL season alive with a 44-30 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Thursday Night Football. Unlike a week earlier, the Lions stars stepped up with Amon-Ra St. Brown returning and connecting well with Jared Goff. Jahmyr Gibbs chimed in with three touchdowns to seal the victory.
Rashid Shaheed produced one of the best plays this season as he opened the third quarter with a 100-yard kickoff return.

He played a key part in the Seattle Seahawks thrashing the Atlanta Falcons 37-9.
The Baltimore Ravens are in all sorts of trouble following their 27-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Missed chances are likely to cost the Ravens a spot in the playoffs while the win puts the Steelers into the lead in the AFC North.
Winning only their second game of the season, the Tennessee Titans upset the Cleveland Browns 31-29. As the Titans run game dominated, Shedeur Sanders played out the highs and lows you’d expect from a rookie quarterback.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have become a bit of a surprise packet to be 9-4 and at the top of the AFC South following their 36-19 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Despite the shorthanded nature of the Colts, it marks another impressive win for the Jaguars in their quest for the playoffs.
J.J. McCarthy has struggled with injuries and poor performances throughout the NFL season, but he came up with the goods for the Minnesota Vikings to hammer a hapless Washington Commanders outfit 31-0. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins have quietly won four straight with their latest a routine 34-10 win over the New York Jets.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers blew their chance to add an 8th win, upset 24-20 by Tyler Shough and the New Orleans Saints.
In what many expected to be the game of the week, the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals produced.

Forced into chasing the game for much of it, Josh Allen scored a solo 40-yard touchdown and delivered an outrageous pass late for the Bills to finish on top 39-34 in snowy conditions. While he’s not been consistent, Allen is the best player in the NFL and still worth considering as a MVP at $13.
The Las Vegas Raiders showed life, but not enough to avoid moving to 2-11 as they fell to the now 11-2 Denver Broncos. Bo Nix appears to be coming good at the right time of the NFL season to complete 31 of this 38 passes for 212 yards.
We’ve been told that the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers are bitter rivals, but are only now just seeing it. This game, however, went much like the rest with the Packers finishing victorious. Still, there is hope for the rivalry to grow from here. There is no such hope for the Arizona Cardinals following their 45-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Hope is dwindling for the Kansas City Chiefs in the wake of their 20-10 defeat at the hands of the Houston Texans.
Finally, Jalen Hurts finished with four picks as the Philadelphia Eagles fell to the Los Angeles Rams 22-19, but the game will be remembered for only one thing.

3 Takeaways From Week 14
Jones Goes Down
The Indianapolis Colts were always unlikely to be a true threat to the league in the playoffs, but they’re now no chance.
Daniel Jones’ non-contact Achilles injury will end his season with the Colts already so desperate as to work out retired quarterback Philip Rivers.
With Daniel Jones out for the year and Riley Leonard week to week with a strained knee ligament, the Colts will work out QB Philip Rivers on Tuesday, as NFL Network reported.

Regardless of what happens from here, the season should be considered a success. They were eliminated from making the post-season in Week 17 last season, and while they’re out to $4.50 to make it in this one, there is hope for the future in Indy.
Shough The Future?
Tyler Shough wasn’t a popular pick during the NFL draft. He’s not won everyone over across 14 weeks either.
But in outrageous conditions in Tampa Bay, Shough produced the best performance of his NFL career. He threw the ball in heavy rain, and put his body on the line for two huge runs. His designed run resulted in a 33-yard touchdown before his second put New Orleans in front.

The career-high 55 yards on the ground sets up a new version of Shough moving forward. His 34-yard rushing touchdown is the longest by any Saints quarterback in franchise history not named Taysom Hill. As the first non-Hill Saints quarterback with multiple rushing touchdowns in a game since Drew Brees in 2018, Shough can solidify his place as the future of the franchise over the last four games.
The End Of A Dynasty?
We circled the Kansas City Chiefs as potential playoff flops at the halfway point of the season. They’re now $5.50 to make them at all after falling to 6-7.
Patrick Mahomes didn’t have much help on the day, but didn’t do himself too many favours. He underthrew on what would normally have been a touchdown pass, and wasn’t accurate enough for Travis Kelce to reel one in late before it fell into the hands of the Texans defence.
Kansas City hasn’t missed the playoffs since Mahomes was drafted in 2017, but that streak looks all but over. They’ve now lost back-to-back games and four of their last five to be just a 15% chance of making the postseason. Not only does Kansas City need to win out, but results will need to go their way for a miracle to happen.
While it’s the end of a Chiefs dynasty, it’s unlikely to be an end to the dynasty. A down year can be accepted. Mahomes and Andy Reid could well get things back on track next season. However, their run of dominance appears to be over for now.
