The daily preview it to the rim with NBA tips for the sliding, under-strength Golden State Warriors’ tall order against the in-form Denver Nuggets.

NBA Tips – Golden State Warriors @ Denver Nuggets

13:00 (AEDT), Tue 8th Mar @ Ball Arena, Denver

History: Played 189: Nuggets 101 V Warriors 88

Last meeting: February 16, 2022: Nuggets 117 d Warriors 116 at Chase Center

Final Thoughts: Golden State Warriors are desperate to break out of their recent slump, which won’t be easy today as a depleted side travels to take on a Denver Nuggets line-up trending in the opposite direction.

The 43-21 Warriors are clinging to second spot in the West but have lost eight of their last 10 games. They beat the Blazers straight out of the All-Star break before losing all four assignments since, to the Mavericks (107-101), Timberwolves (129-114), Mavs again (122-113) and Lakers (124-116).

Steph Curry dropped 30 points against the Lakers but has been ruled out of this game. Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala and Gary Payton are also all sidelined.

The 38-26 Nuggets are sixth in the West, winning eight of their last nine. With Nikola Jokic resting, DeMarcus Cousins (31 pts, 9 reb) stepped up in a 116-101 win over the Rockets on Saturday (AEDT). Jokic then returned in spectacular fashion yesterday, leading Denver to a 138-130 overtime win over New Orleans with 46 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists.

The Nuggets are 2-0 up in the season ledger so far after two clashes in San Francisco. They edged the Warriors 89-86 in late-December, courtesy of Nikola Jokic’s (22 pts, 19 reb, 5 ast, 4 stl) all-round industriousness. The Warriors were down by 24 points at halftime but rallied with Steph Curry scoring 21 of his 23 points in the second half, before coming up short.

It was another nail-biter last month with Denver getting up 117-116 courtesy of Monte Morris’ buzzer-beating three. Jokic was again dominant with 35 points, 17 rebounds and 8 assists.

The Nuggets are 19-11 at home this season (13-17 ATS), winning six of their last seven at Ball Arena. The Warriors are 17-14 on the road (13-16-2 ATS) but have lost five of their last six away.

Golden State are in a hole as it is, with their elite defence falling off a cliff. A starting five of Poole, Lee, Moody, Porter and Looney can’t dig them out of it against a red-hot Jokic and his solid Denver support cast. The Nuggets are just 2-7 on a back-to-back this season and are coming off an OT game but should run away with this one.
