NBA Tips – Dallas Mavericks @ Golden State Warriors

History: Played 176: Mavericks 91 V Warriors 85

Last meeting: May 19, 2022: Warriors 112 d Mavericks 87 at Chase Center

Final Thoughts: Golden State Warriors shut down Luka Doncic and cruised to a big win over Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The Mavs are striving to square the ledger before the series moves to Dallas.

Steph Curry (21 pts, 12 reb, 4 ast) led the way in a 112-87 victory on Thursday (AEST), while Andrew Wiggins (19 pts) did a great job on Doncic and Jordan Poole had 19 points off the bench.

Doncic was held to 20 points (including only two in the second half), 7 rebounds and 4 assists and shot just 6-for-18 from the floor. Likewise, Jalen Brunson (14 pts) missed all five of his three-point attempts in a night where the Mavericks shot just 36 percent overall and just 11-for-48 from behind the arc. The Warriors shot 56.1 percent.

The Warriors are 38-10 at home this season (28-18-2) and unbeaten in seven games at Chase Center during the playoffs. The Mavericks are 26-23 on the road this season (28-21 ATS), including a 3-5 away record in the playoffs.

Dallas should be better for the run and Doncic is rarely kept quiet two games in a row. If he and the Mavs can get some momentum, they can put Golden State under some pressure. But at home the smart option is getting behind the threat-laden Warriors – though it should be tighter this time around.
