NBA Playoffs Tips & Preview – Heat @ 76ers (Game 4)

The playoffs are underway and the daily preview takes it to the rim with NBA tips for Game 4 of the Semi-final series between Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat.

NBA Tips – Miami Heat @ Philadelphia 76ers

History: Played 144: Heat 74 V 76ers 70

Last meeting: May 7, 2022: 76ers 99 V Heat 79 at Wells Fargo Center

Final Thoughts: Joel Embiid has returned for Philadelphia 76ers and turned their Semi-final series against Miami Heat on its head. The Sixers head into Game 4 coming off a 20-point win as they look to level up at 2-all.

Embiid suffered a concussion and facial fracture late in Philadelphia’s series-sealing Game 6 win over the Raptors.

The top-seeded Heat, who accounted for the Hawks in five games, subsequently cruised to a 106-92 Game 1 victory courtesy of a dominant second half. The NBA’s preeminent sixth man Tyler Herro (25 pts, 7 ast) top-scored, while Bam Adebayo (24 pts, 12 reb, 4 ast, 2 stl) was an all-round beast for Miami. Tobias Harris (27 pts, 6 reb) picked up some of the scoring load for the 76ers. James Harden (16 pts, 5-of-13 FGM, 9 reb, 5 ast, 5 TO) came in for a barrage of criticism for struggling to step into marquee man role.

The Heat’s 119-103 win in Game 2 was equally decisive. The hosts won every quarter with Jimmy Butler (22 pts, 6 reb, 12 ast) in top-shelf form, Adebayo (23 pts, 9 reb) starring again, and Herro and Victor Oladipo combining for 37 points off the bench. Harden had 15 first-half points before tapering off, scoring just two in the second.

Sharpshooting 76ers rally as marquee man returns

A masked-up Embiid recovered in time for Game 3, helping inspire a critical 99-79 bounce-back win at home. The influential big man had 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Danny Green and Tyrese Maxey both scored 21 points and nailed 12 of 15 three-point attempts between them.

Butler (33 pts, 9 reb) was a lone wolf for the ice-cold Heat, who shot at just 35 percent from the floor. The impact of Adebayo (9 pts, 3 reb) was completed doused with Embiid back on deck.

Embiid is also struggling with a thumb injury but the effect of his presence on the Sixers cannot be understated. They head into Game 4 as a narrow favourite – and it’s hard to argue given the manner of their seventh win in eight matches at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday.
