NBA Playoffs Tips & Preview – Grizzlies @ Timberwolves (Game 6)

The playoffs are underway and the daily preview takes it to the rim with NBA tips as Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies face off in Game 6.

NBA Tips – Memphis Grizzlies @ Minnesota Timberwolves

11:00 (AEST), Sat 30th Apr @ Target Center, Minneapolis

History: Played 106: Timberwolves 53 V Grizzlies 53

Last meeting: April 27, 2022: Grizzlies 111 d Timberwolves 109 at FedEx Forum

Final Thoughts: Memphis Grizzlies get the first crack at closing out their rollercoaster First Round series with Minnesota Timberwolves.

The seventh-seeded Timberwolves took a shock 1-0 lead after Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns combined for 65 points in a 130-117 result.

The Grizzlies struck back with a 124-96 blowout win at home and a 104-95 victory in Game 3 in Minneapolis. But after a couple of rough games, Towns (33 pts, 14 reb) led the T-Wolves to a crucial 119-118 Game 4 win – despite 34 points from Desmond Bane and 15 assists from linchpin Ja Morant.

The Grizzlies reclaimed the advantage with a nail-biting 111-109 success in Game 5 back in Memphis. Morant (30 pts, 13 reb, 9 ast, 3 stl) was the hero as they rallied from 11 points down with less than seven minutes left. He scored the Grizzlies’ last 13 points, including the last-second lay-up to win the game.

Bane contributed 25 points and Brandon Clarke had 21 off the bench. Towns (28 pts, 12 reb, 3 stl) was the Timberwolves’ best, while Anthony Edwards scored 21 points.

Minnesota would like to see more offensive production from their back-court, with D’Angelo Russell averaging just 13 points in the series and Patrick Beverley averaging 11.2 points. Meanwhile, Memphis have been struggling to combat the big man mismatch up against Towns, with Steven Adams virtually unused in this series (and now out in health and safety protocols) and starters Xavier Tillman and Kyle Anderson putting up modest numbers.

The last two games have been fought on a knife’s edge and this one should go down to the wire again in Minneapolis. Seedings and regular-season performance is irrelevant now – and the T-Wolves are every chance of sending it Game 7 after competing so strongly against the team with the NBA’s second-best record.

Best Bet: Tri-Bet – Either team by 6pts or less @ $2.30

Same Game Multi: Handicap – Timberwolves +1.5; Total – Over 229.5; Karl-Anthony Towns Points – Over 25.5; Desmond Bane Points – Over 21.5 @ $11.97
