Palmerbet Racing Team previews Wednesday’s thoroughbred meeting at Warwick Farm, with tips and analysis for all seven races on the card. Good luck, punters!

Rail Position: True, entire circuit
Track Condition: Heavy 8

HIGHJACKER looks a ready made young racehorse based on what we saw at the trials. He looked professional and talented. Was thrashed at only race start last campaign, which is a little unsettling, but appears back a bit better. SILK TOPPER is in same boat. Did nothing on debut but spelled and trialed nicely. SWEET SCANDAL will be heavily backed here. Unraced filly but won her barrier trial in the mud looking very sharp.

This Waterhouse/Bott filly ECHO GEM won a trial impressively and was runner-up in the other one. She is pretty quick and you know she will be fast and on pace all the way. HELGA is on debut here and trialed like a star too. Watch market as she might be one right out of the box. Can win. IN A WHILE was doing best work late on wet track in recent trial when 4th. James McDonald booking is significant and market moves need to be watched.

TSWALU has the great draw and should use that while fresh. Keep in mind, despite big weight here, that he won first up last time in. Big show. MAGICUS has shown nothing for a very long time and even his 2 runs this time up have been only average. But last 75m of last start 5th gave an impression that this might suit. FLORID placed when resuming last start and it was behind Wander who ran brilliantly in town Monday. Big show again this time.

This is a fascinating race to work out. FEELIN THE LOVE is good first up and the last time she was in at this BM level, in town, she placed. Does generally like it a tad longer, but hey, in her youth she won at 800m so can get along. Apprentice allowance brings her right into this. CONNOISSEUR is always a threat in these types of races and drawing the fence here is a big plus. Looks hard to beat first up. IMPASSE resumes here also, and has loads of potential but that may be over a longer trip. Is young and will improve off this run.

One thing for sure is, this bloke CHALMERS will like this trip and it being wet. He’s by Mossman and he has already shown a liking to the conditions. Placed at BM 76 level last start and ticks all the boxes…oh, and has the inside draw too. CORMAC has talent which he showed to win a maiden then backed up similar race to this one, and placed. Is fit and strong. RAKHISH will go hard early to lead then take off with 600m to go. That makes him a threat – being by Savabeel doesn’t hurt either.

Interesting that the toppie here was a $26 winner last start similar race. Has more weight now, but was 2nd up so presumably he has improved. MORNINGTON, his stablemate, basically hit the line with Follow Suit last start and was placed 3rd. Gets 2kg turnaround here so rates highly too. ONLY TIGER is in sparkling form and although up in grade will be hard to beat. Is very tough and ground out a gutsy win weaker grade last start. Chance.

VILLA CARLOTTA loomed late to win same sort of race last start and looked to get bogged down on heavy track final 100m and was 2nd. Fitter now as she is 3rd up. Will take holding out. MADDISON AVENUE hasn’t beaten a runner home at 2 starts this time up but drops in grade here. Is also back at home this track and is fitter. Expect big improvement. DEFT is getting better every run and she showed that by last start maiden win. Much harder here but that improvement curve is in play, remember.
