Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three horse racing tips from   Balaklava. Good luck, punters!

I think you have to have the topweight ALLEBOOM in your numbers here simply because he has won a race and is in very well at the handicaps with the 3kg allowance. As mentioned he has won, it was here on debut when he just landed the cash then was spelled. He resumed a few weeks back with a fine 2nd in a strong race in town and looks well in here, although it is a tough and even little field. Drawing widest is a worry but he was on speed when he won and came from off pace at Morphettville last start when 2nd. So he is versatile.

Tip: ALLEBOOM

I’m playing an intellectual hunch in this race. Team McEvoy will saddle up the first starter VANCITY GEM in this. Now, here’s my theory. They also had Mayshestar, who on form would have been favourite but they scratched her. The stable’s top rider, Barend Voster rides Vancity Gem. The stable also could have run their talented maiden Who Runs The World in this, that filly an impressive 2nd this grade last start. Instead, she races today her in a  Cl 1, again deliberately avoiding Vancity Gem. And….at Gawler two weeks back, Vancity Gem jogged to the line winning a barrier trial. Plenty of money came in for her overnight as well.

Tip: VANCITY GEM

This is a fascinating race. Not many will tip the former Kiwi-trained galloper MONGOLIAN MARSHAL because he’s getting on, this race is well short of his pet trip, he’s been sold by his former owners, he has topweight here oh and he exits from gate 16 today. Nope, nothing to like about him in this big field especially as he will need to drop right out. BUT….he is the best horse, on form displayed in the past and his last start 5th at stakes level was a monster run over 1400m. I think you might be pretty surprised at how well he finishes this race off today. HANDSOME RETURN has found form winning past two and could be the backup bet.
