Scone R4 – BM58 Hcp 1300m

I think I’ll map this race on the money. Let’s see. I suspect SIR CLOONEY, having just his 3rd start in a race, will drive forward from this inside draw and try and lead. Given there isn’t a great deal of speed, he should find it, drop anchor in front, kick off the bend and hold tough all the way down this luscious, big home straight. TENNESSEE MAN probably battles on the best trying to catch him. Sir Clooney’s only win was over this trip!

Godolphin saddle up the well-bred maiden galloper ZAKAT in this and he should make a charitable return to your pocket if you get on. he sat off the pace in a very strong 1600m mdn last start, and just found it a tad too far, so James Cummings has dropped him back to this trip. He’s fit, strong late and now experienced enough to run over these at the end. Incidentally, the word Zakat is an Islamic Charity striving to create lasting, sustainable change in the lives of those living in poverty. Like I said, back him here and he takes you a step closer to enrichment.

Again I’m on the come-back-in-journey curve. HURRICANE FIGHTER looked pretty sharp when last in work. He was roaring through his grades, and like so often is the case, he was spelled while in top form. And hasn’t come back as good. Last start was a plodding 7th for example but it was over a mile. His best form has been at shorter trips so coming back here in both grade and trip may just be the spark that ignites that former good form. I’ll be banking on it.
