I do think the toppie here, ABERRATION, is a bit of a herd horse. He is talented, in fact I’m prepared to say he is far more talented than his rivals here, but he likes to follow. He has placed 16 times from his 30 or so starts, and won just 3 on top of that. His past 5 starts for instance, all in this grade, have resulted in placings. Today he is perfectly drawn. He is very fit and looking at his rivals, he does appear to have a lap on a few of these. Maybe jock Nathan Day can trick him into leading them across the line. He is at his home track too. Hardest to beat may be DIAMOND DIVA. Quinella them.
Looks a battle royal between the top two, number 1 REDEEMER and number 2 YANACOCHA. Both have limited talent but both are at least progressive. Redeemer gets the nod, narrowly, because he gets the benefit of a 3kg claim and he looks very suited to this trip. Looks to drop into the one, one trail and out plug them. But the other horse won his mdn nicely and has placed at this level since. Looks the obvious quinella.
The money has flowed in for HIGH EXCALERBRATION over night. She has been runner up twice since the spell so that makes sense. But I’m having her in my quinella because I like MAGNAJET. He didn’t fire in the mud last start but track is expected to be harder here so is going to improve considerably.
