I love a horse in form and in the shape of the toppie here, GUNGA DIN, we have one that fits that bill. After running a terrific 3rd in town at highway level, he came to Canberra ina very strong BM 70 Federal and swamped them all late over this trip to win drawing clear. He goes up 3kg but I suspect the field might be a little easier and certainly a lot smaller. I see him lobbing in about 5th on the rails all the way to the turn, then angling clear and sprinting too well late.
Tip: GUNGA DIN
A strong provincial maiden. I like BOBLEE from the Joe Pride stable. He was big, big odds on debut in town yet made steady, good ground late to place 4th. This may not be any easier because Team Snowden saddle two runners and their record at Kembla is awesome, while Godolphin send MERCURY around and he’s been backed into odds-on favouritism previously suggesting the stable rate him. Good race, but I just liked the way Boblee went on debut and he’s drawn perfectly in this.
I’m not a fan of the outside gate here for MAIBEASY but I do think she is progressive. Certainly 3rd up here she should be at her best and so if she can find cover just in behind the speed, she might just sprout wings late. Won in the bush first up racing just that way and was a nose away when finishing hard to just fail at Bathurst, last start. That day the track favoured front-runners and they ran cracking time.
