Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three horse racing tips from Newcastle & Armidale. Good luck, punters!

I think Muswellbrook trainer Todd Howlett needs a pat on the back. He has placed this lightly-raced galloper NOBLE CAUSE really well and this looks a picture-perfect race as well. From this gate, he should jump away well and go forward. No surprise from where I sit to see him bowling along in the lead and just prove too strong late. The only query is the trip. He’s never gone this far and was run down over 1600m last start. But I think that race was a little harder than this one. For quinella players, throw in NODEEL.

Gotta love horses drawn the fence. To me, it’s such an advantage. FIRST FOOTMAN is that horse here. He’s originally from Europe and has just had 2 starts in over 2 years since arriving in Australia. And has yet to put 2 runs back to back. Gets his chance here, after resuming from a long spell in this grade last start and running a really pleasing 2nd. Must be a lot fitter now.

I think the toppie here ZOUOLOGIST is well placed now that Cejay Graham has been booked to ride him. She takes 2kg off his back and his form has been outstanding for this grade of late. He transferred from Chris Waller to Tara & Philippe Vigouroux a few months back and he has found his best form. The change of scenery is doing him the world of good. He won a Cl 2 at this trip recently in the bush, then last start in town in a tough BM 70, he was on pace over 1400m and just weakened the final 75m to grab 3rd.
