Form student RIC CHAPMAN looks at Saturday’s Mornington meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all nine races on the card. Good luck, punters!

Rail Position: True, entire circuit
Track Condition: Good 4

AMISH BOY looks very progressive and professional. Sat back and came with a really solid run to just catch his arch-rival GLENFIDDICH last start in Adelaide over 1200m. Who knows who handles this extra 300m the best but he can finish his races off. Glenfiddich must win soon. He raced very bravely to lose in a head-bobbing finish last start. Blinkers come off this time. SEA WITNESS is a maiden but races like he could plug on into a place.

LADY LOFT looked really progressive last campaign winning a couple but in 3 starts this time up she hasn’t really fired. This is a little easier so that might trigger a response. Adelaide visitor DONE BY ME resumes here goes well fresh. Gets a handy 3kg weight relief and looks nicely placed as she has form around serious stakes horses. DES MOINES has only won the once but her first-up 3rd in what looks like a stronger race was full of merit. Is fitter now and significantly, won 2nd up last campaign.

NOT ENOUGH EFFORT won 4 on the bounce last year. last campaign wasn’t as fruitful. Resumes here hoping to recapture the winning way. RAKTOFF was the model of consistency and honesty when last in work winning numerous races. Resumes here but has been backed. TOO GOOD TOO HARD is lightly raced and has the awkward draw but also seems to have a fair share of talent. Start prior to spell, was a great 5th in a much better field. Watch market.

The grade is going to test OUR GLADIATOR but gee she is racing well. Showed great speed to lead all way over 955m at the Valley last start making 3 wins from past 4 starts. Huge weight here but she is flying. Similarly, IKNEWSHEWASMINE is flying. She has won her past 3 starts and has a great draw here. Up a little in class but that consistency is so important. HUMAN NATURE might be a bit6 of a rising star. Lightly raced but won clearly over 955m last start in a BM 70 and has a great alley. Big show.

SIN TO WIN has been out of the winner’s box for some time now but is 2nd up here in a suitable race. Beaten 12 lengths when resuming last start behind the in form SALSAMOR over this trip. Did pull up lame that day. Blinkers go back on. Can place. Salsamor is racing so well that he must be included in your numbers. MIRIMAR has placed in both starts this time up and is ready to pounce. Big show also.

Big field and hard to evaluate given its weight scale. YOURDEEL will get back from this horror draw but can rattle home and is 3rd up. Did look like a star in the making when he won 3 in a row last year. WESTPORT the filly is a bit hit and miss these days but she has finishing power when her mind is switched on. And is close to a win as her battling 6th in a tougher race last start suggests. RELUCENT has only won the one race but he does run on and should receive a great, cushy run from the 2 gate.

What a good, deep field. HARLEM is the super-fit horse and the best horse but he has a huge weight. Saying that, he will be up there all the way and he is very tough. Ran 4th at Gr 1 level last start so has to be considered. AKTAU has no weight in contrast and is the emerging star. Many rate him a future Cups horse and his 3 wins from past 4 starts certainly don’t pose an argument. Big danger. So too is JUST BENJAMIN. Got too far back in Open Hcp at Caulfield last start but did really dash late. Looks around a bit so blinkers go on for the first time here. Looms large. Enormous chance.

FAATINAH is a terrific sprinter and he showed last start when he is left alone he can compete at any level. Really gutsy win but up in weight. This is drop in grade for BONS AWAY from recent useful starts. Is 3rd up and will flash late. VAINSTREAM is really well in at the weights. Is honest and fast and drops in grade for this. Big show. Watch.

Mornington R9 – BM78 Hcp 1600m

FANCIFUL TOFF is a really good open grade stayer who resumes here. Will be fit enough to fly home late. And gets a 2kg weight allowance. WHAM was handy this grade when resuming and drawn to run a much better race. Did win 2 in a row when last in work. the 3YO filly SELIKA carries no weight and is 3rd up. Looked really smart winning while fresh and should be in this finish. This is easier than stakes race failure last start.
