Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three horse racing tips from Wodonga, Queanbeyan & Scone. Good luck, punters!

I really like SMART DESIGN in this. I think he can jump hard early, sprout wings and charge to the front then dictate the tempo and ultimately the result of the race too. He’s had a pair of runs to date, showed speed on each occasion and was beaten a lip pretty much both times. Is fitter now and more experienced, and significantly, has raced at this track.

Two runners here from Tulloch Lodge. That means they have come a long way for this race. One of them, THE SWELL,  is a fast filly who was 2nd at Canberra on debut when leading. Had an apprentice on that day and has a Gr 1 winning senior rider this time. Plus a superb barrier. The other one is a well-bred unraced filly named DAZZLING DAMSEL. She wasn’t far behind a smart one recently in a city trial. If she doesn’t take The Swell on early, I think The Swell leads all the way and wins. But watch the market and quinella the pair.

This Sue Grills-trained speedster BURNING CROWN has been hailed a star hope in the upcoming $1million Kosciuszko in a month’s time. And as such, you’d hope/expect him to win this. Gets a needed 3kg claim in a grade that he should beat easily. Resumes here. His only start to date this trip was on debut where he won by a widening 6 lengths. Naturally, this is a much stronger field but he has placed twice from 4 starts at Highway level. If he’s grown into himself for this prep, he might just destroy these. I like BENGALLA BAY for 2nd. He’s fast early and can cross from this awkward gate. Good race.
