Form student, RIC CHAPMAN, takes a look at today’s thoroughbred meetings and delivers his three top horse racing tips, from Hawkesbury and Narromine. Good luck, punters!

There was an awful lot to like about the way CAPPAMORE ran on into 2nd place this grade in a provincial maiden when ridden by the in-form Mitchell Bell. But there was probably a little more to like about how well PACIFIC LEGEND hit the line on debut in a  provincial maiden last start ridden by Mitchell Bell. Both horses were placed. And significantly Bell, who yesterday won the Tamworth Country Championships heat, has chosen to partner Pacific Legend in this. Perhaps quinella the pair.

I like this race – a match in two coming up. PIP’S PICK has settled in very well now that he’s in the Central West, coming from the Victorian bush. And to show that, he’s been on pace both times for two runaway wins of late. Harder here but is obviously on an upwards curve. As too is this 3YO filly SMART MOVE. She looks talented and progressive. Won her maiden very soundly last start and although this is a big leap up in class, did it by sitting off pace and charging away. May be a late candidate for the Muswellbrook Country Champs heat if she can win this, which I think she can.

You’ve just got to love the chances of a last start placed horse who is now 3rd up. and we get that here with ONTHETAKE. Clare Cunningham trains and Jason Collett rides. That has proven to be a very potent combination and should be again in this now that the boom filly Tuesday Special has been withdrawn. Just ticks all the boxes: fit, great draw and grade suits.
