When this 3YO filly ATOMIC PULSE had her first start, it was a few weeks back at Newcastle. And they backed her very heavily suggesting she was at the worst, a provincial level galloper. Well, she didn’t win. But she did run an honest race finishing 3rd. Strips fitter here, is more experienced, has a useful gate and that same level of stable confidence would have only grown.
Tip: ATOMIC PULSE
I like one here. I saw TAVINO on debut sit back with the cap-catchers and plug on into 7th. I noted he would improve next start. Come next start, he was hustled out of the gates and set alight, he was up on the pace all the way and was beaten 2 lengths into 3rd at Hamilton. That all was done for education and fitness purposes. So 3rd up here, over a trip that looks ideal, he should be super fit and ready to go bang. I’ll be on. I see him bouncing out and driving into about the one, one. Then settling and coming home hard late.
The race has been robbed of a lot of interest by the scratching of Deviate. But that scratching also opens the event up for Greg Ryan’s mount CORCRA. He’s only had the 4 starts but seems to be really taking to racing and improving each outing. Scored in maiden grade last start at Canberra with a big weight and sat on speed racing away late to win eased down. Harder here but looks progressive enough.
