We saw during the week the Sydney stewards out Sam Clipperton for a month for not giving his horse every possible chance to win. It was harsh especially if you compare it to the ride on COSTA CHIN CHIN last start. The horse had no chance from the second it jumped. It was in a very similar mdn to this. He jumped away from the outside gate and was restrained to the rear but the horse on his inside pushed up so he was 2nd last and 3-wide. Jock, to his credit, took off to improve his position but ended up racing the last 700m 5-wide. It was a miracle he finished 5th. Should lob in a better position here and should be further improved. I like him a lot today.
Tip: COSTA CHIN CHIN
Two unraced ones from top yards here bear watching. But I’m a form man and I like the way this SIR MENADUKE picks them up and puts them down. He was well back in the city on debut, but the fact he raced in town suggests the stable rate him. He then went to Pakenham and finished off solidly from mid-pack to get beaten a nose. Must be fitter and now with that experience looms largest for mine.
Tip: SIR MENADUKE
Off the 2 gate here, I’m tipping Adam Hyeronimus, who just loves to find the lead early, will do just that and drive STAMPEDE to the front. And being 4th up now, this just might prove to be the winning tactic. He’s a class stayer who is very hard to pass when he’s right. Should be rock hard now and looks nicely placed to win from the in-form WU GOK.
