This just looks a terrific race for the Kris Lees trained juvenile CIAO UNO. She fits 3 categories that I really look for and like while punting. Firstly, on debut, she ran second but was sensationally backed from $2.10 to start at $1.65. That to me suggests…plenty of stable confidence. Secondly, she has a great gate here while many main rivals have drawn deep. She exits from 3. But the main thing I like – she is a dual acceptor. She was scratched from a winnable race yesterday. This Showcase Mdn looks tailor-made for her.
Tip: CIAO UNO
Should be a bit of pace on early in this with SUPER DANCER going forward. And he’ll take catching but I do think LE GAI SOLEIL will do that. Should sit behind the speed and from gate 2 is most likely on the fence receiving the best run on the race. Does resume here but has had a pair of trials and showed a lot of talent on debut when 3rd in a similar race. Quinella them up.
Tip: LE GAI SOLEIL
There’s probably a struck match between MIXED BLOSSOM and POLAR STAR. The latter carried the same weight as the former when they last raced, in town last start and polar star beat her home. However, Mixed Blossom was 4 wide all the way and was eased down over the last 150m. Different story here. I suspect Mixed Blossom charges early to find the lead and being a fair bit fitter now on home track she may just keep going this time. CALESCENT is on the rise and has talent too but resumes.
