Strong Class 2 race. Kris Lees presents one here with a great name: PERFECT. She has already won a race and resumes here. Watch market. But I do believe EMPEROR’S STAR is the one. She is more seasoned and her 5th in a very strong Cl 2 at Dubbo after a bit of a let-up last start, marks her as the one ready to go bang. Has already won a couple of races and is drawn to receive a terrific run camped just behind what should be a strong tempo. I think I will quinella both of these but I’m rather keen on Emperor’s Star.
Tip: EMPEROR’S STAR
Strong gathering BM 58 types. I like the filly STARDEN LASS. She’s a ready-made thing having won her first 2 race starts then came up against Saturday class Raktoff and ran boldly, placing 3rd. This race overall represents a drop in class from that race. She will bounce out and sit in top 4, hopefully with cover then pounce late. Might be a filly going places. For 2nd, MADE THE NEWS showed good talent when last in work and resumes here from a very good gate.

This big Canberra card comes to a conclusion with this race and I like the Sydney-trained JOY AND MIRTH. I think she will settle back about 6th until the turn, then jockey Blaike McDougall gets her to the outside and she rushes home too well. Her one run this time up was a 7th at Newcastle, when she was ridden exactly like I just described but she only plodded home for 7th. This is a few lengths easier and she is a few lengths fitter now.
