Keith Dryden and Scott Collings have, as a training combo, developed a very impressive strike rate down in Canberra. And they bring a lightly raced maiden to the races in this called ROSECRAFT. She is a 4YO mare with just 2 starts to her credit. The latest when a strong 3rd at the Sapphire Coast when tracking wide most of the way. Made good ground late. This synthetic surface is suited to those who are strong and from this beautiful inside draw she can sit up in 3rd to the bend. If so, rider Nick Heyward who rides this track very well, should get her into the clear and rolling. Should be right in the fray collaring the leader, NOTHING NEEDED, late to score.
You’ve just got to have a healthy respect for horses in form and when they are accompanied by the leading rider, it puts a spring in your step. Enter the toppie here in ARUGULA. He will be ridden by Greg Ryan and he has placed at his past 5 starts – among them were 2 very strong wins. Hits the line well and this isn’t any tougher than last start when he stormed home to win impressively. Looks a nice bet.
What a fascinating contest. Firstly, we have a rising young star in ENJOY THE STARS who looked really, really strong hitting the lead at the 200m and storming away to win maiden this ACTON track last start. She knows this part of the world well and should run on gamely despite class rise. Then we have TRUE WORTH who was responsible for a near astonishing first up effort when 3rd in the Federal here last start. That race was many lengths stronger than Enjoy The Stars’ maiden, and she was 3-wide all way before flashing home. If she hasn’t been flattened by the effort she might be the better choice of the two.
