- Cranbourne - Race 8
- (1200M)
- November 23, 2024
1. Arkansaw Kid (13)
Back from an unsuccessful trip to Sydney for the $2million Sydney Stakes and back in grade here too. Had been in super form leading up to Sydney trip including a Gr 2 win at Caulfield in the Bobby Lewis. Goes very well when wet and looks well in here. Big show.

2. Baraqiel (8)
Exciting sprinter who has won 6 of 9 and 2 starts back was easily too good for a similar field to this over 1200m in the Gr 2 McEwen at The Valley in fast time. Loomed to win the ultra-strong VRC Classic at Flemington last start but was beaten 2 lengths in the end by Sunshine In Paris and Bella Nipotina. This is many lengths easier and looks the winner.

Proven Winner
3. Oscar's Fortune (9)
Ran a great 2nd to Bellatrix Star over 1100m in the Gr 2 Schillaci but since then has been beaten out of a place in this grade twice. Can improve but past 2 runs are a concern.

4. Spacewalk (12)
Good, honest sprinter who comes into this in form and ready to pounce. Sat back but flashed home at Flemington last start when closing 2nd to Way To The Stars in the 1000m Century Stakes. Has won this trip and looms as a threat here.
-
Ready to Fire
5. Pounding (1)
Has been freshened for this after being on speed and too strong winning the Sale Cup over a mile last start. It’s a massive ask to come back 400m in a crack field so not keen.

6. Rey Magnerio (4)
Big threat here. Was runner-up in this grade twice before storming late this trip to win the Miss Security Stakes from the speedy Front Page in good time. Is in form and is suited here.

7. Who Dares (3)
May find this too short. Last start, folded when on speed and 8th to Maharba over 1200m in Gr 3 where Rey Magnerio was 2nd. Looks a length behind the best of these.

Good on Soft
8. Robrick (7)
Another who is tough and solid but a length behind the best of these. Is capable and recent form is solid including a game 2nd to Rey Magnerio beaten a head over 1200m last start. Sure to be running on.

9. Cloudland (14)
Well travelled having raced at Randwick, Eagle Farm, Toowoomba and last start win at Flemington in recent starts. This is much harder than greys win on Cup day but is tough.

10. Deepour (2)
Not far away last start when resuming behind Way To The stars but this is another level up. Not keen.

11. Philosopher (11)
Yet to win this trip and last start when 4th to Way To The Stars over 1000m was career-best effort. This should test.

12. Nadal (10)
Lightly raced but has talent. Won a lowly BM 78 in fast time under 60kg at Flemington before stepping up to stakes grade and flashing home late when 4th, beaten half a length by Rey Magnerio last start over 1200m. Can place.

Good on Soft
13. Moby Dick (6)
Finished hard over 11oom back in Sept to beat Baraqiel at Flemington but 3 runs since hasn’t run a place in races similar to this. Not keen.

14. Kristilli (5)
Good mare on her day but won just once from 9 starts. Resumes here and races for new stable for the first time. Best recent effort was back in Feb when 3rd to Kimochi over 1200m at Randwick. Not keen.
