Scone Cup

1. Tavi Time (7)

J: Chad Schofield T: Kris Lees

There has been rain around Sydney, enough to make the track soft and this bloke grows an extra leg when it is soft. Is 3rd up here after 2 solid runs, latest when strong late after unlucky run and 8th in the Hawkesbury Cup. Similar event here and will love this track. Big danger.

Is 2nd up here and has won 2nd up in the past. Led and fought on strongly when a courageous 5th in the Hawkesbury Cup when resuming. Similar conditions here and he strips fitter. Looms large as he too likes it damp.

Is ready to pounce. Is well up to this level and in fact, last Dec ran 4th at Gr 1 level carrying 59kg. Two starts this time up have been in Victoria, and they have been handy, latest when beaten just over 4 lengths at Bendigo in the Golden Mile. Definitely a place hope in this.

More than handy on his day and can run from behind or lead. Last start they chose to lead on him when he was in a Bm 100 at Randwick. Was grabbed late by Hellsing when 3rd, beaten less than a length. This is harder but is in form. Place.

Handy on his day but hasn’t shown much fight at this level over the past 8 runs. Probably not racing well enough. Beat just 2 home in recent Hawkesbury Cup.

6. Churchill's Choice (3)

This time up, she has been in career best form, culminating in her last start at Hawkesbury when she flew late to narrowly win the Cup over 1600m. Mares in form are worth following, so no knock from me about her hopes in this.

Has promised for over a year now to win a race like this, teasing us with some neat runs in better grades, then failing when it mattered. So, where now? Well, he’s 3rd up here, was a good finishing 5th in the $500k The Coast last start and can sneak a place.

Draw is a little annoying as he may have to drive forward and be on pace, which isn’t his favourite role. Saying that, his 2nd in a BM 1500m last start under 59kg behind Hellsing was a great run as he was just nutted. is up to this. If he finds cover, he rates highly.

Drawn out in the car park, and yeah, that will hurt. Drew the rails when resuming last start at Hawkesbury in the Gr 3 Crown and after a lovely run wound up 5th beaten 1.6 lengths. This is harder made harder by the draw, but she is a multiple stakes-placed mare. Rough place show.

Up on speed when fading 11th in the Gr 1 Doncaster, but greatly appreciated the drop in class when on speed again and a narrow winner at Randwick in a strong BM 100. Is in form, probably leads and should take some catching.

Has been around in a lot of good races and may surprise here. Not an ideal gate, but he went forward last start after a freshener and was beaten just half a length in the Hawkesbury Cup by Churchill’s Choice. Meets her .5kg better. Was well tried last start, so may pay to have in your numbers.

Is honest but never seems to win, especially on a dry track. Has raced 13 times and not won on that surface. Did race well last start when battling home gamely for 3rd, beaten a length, in the Gr 3 Hawkesbury Cup. This is harder and has drawn poorly.

Another one of those handy-at-this-level types who race well but never seem to salute. Was 6th last start at first run from a spell behind Churchill’s Choice in the Gr 3 Hawkesbury Cup. Similar affair here and has a good gate, so could sneak a place at nice odds.
