Preview – VRC Oaks

A very fast and strong Filly. Ran a super fast time to win Gr 1 at Randwick over a mile, a time none of these could do. The extra 900m is an obvious worry particularly because her own stablemate will go hard and take her on early. BUT, if she is allowed to lead on her own, she can win.

Has grown a leg this campaign. Can finish hard and won similar grade two starts back before good thing beaten in big lead-up race over 2000m last start this company. Looks suited to this journey and will charge late.

Ran good time to lead all the way and defy Zardozi last start in 2000m Wakeful. That was a really strong effort. Likes to lead as does her stablemate Tropical Squall. It will be interesting to see who takes hold. I suspect this filly leads and is pretty tough. Has claims.

Lightly race but is very fit and is gifted. Sat just behind speed before peeling out and winning Geelong Classic over 2200m in very impressive fashion. This is a step up but clearly can run the trip and should be thereabouts at the end.

Very tough Sydney filly from a consistent Oaks winning stable. And she is tough. Finished a solid 3rd last start to Amazonian Miss and Zardozi in good time over 2000m. Has claims.

Made up a lot of ground from a mile back when just behind placegetters last start in 2000m Gr 2 Wakeful – but was well beaten by the leading trio. Will run on but may lack the class to win this.

Is bred to stay and getting better with racing. Stormed home from a mile back when impressive 3rd in 2000m Ethereal last start. This is harder but the longer trip should suit. Place show.

Might be the dark horse. Has only raced 4 times but on each occasion has shown substantial improvement culminating in a good 4th last start behind Amazonian Miss in fast 2000m Gr 2 Wakeful. Made up a stack of ground at Melbourne debut that day and this track and trip will suit. Have in numbers.

Provincial class filly with staying talent but a few of these are simply too fast.

Has drawn deep so probably drops back a bit from the get go but can rally late. Sat behind speed then raced away to very easily win provincial maiden last start. That followed a nice 5th to Zardozi in town. Is improving each start and can run a bold race.

Won a bush maiden last start over 2000m in slow time and that followed a narrow defeat over a mile in very slow time. Not keen.

Has provincial level talent and that’s just not good enough in a Gr 1 race like this. Finishes near last.

Maiden galloper from 5 starts. Gets back and runs on but just doesn’t seem seasoned enough to test the best of these.

Up on speed last start this grade but weakened badly late and was thrashed. Still a maiden and will be after this race.
