1. I Wish I Win (1)
Is probably the best sprinter in the land. Last prep he carried 5kg more than In Secret when a game 3rd in a fast run Gr 1 Newmarket this journey. He then backed up in the mud and won the Gr 1 TJ Smith here this journey. His only start this time up was a gallant 3rd to the brilliant Mr Brightside over 1400m in the Gr 1 Memsie where he moved up to win it but wilted in the final 75m. Loves this track. Loves this trip and if he gets clear air in the straight will go close to winning.

2. Private Eye (9)
Outstanding sprinter. Was runner-up in this race last year behind Giga Kick. Carried 7kg more than In Secret when a great 4th after hitting the front in the Gr 1 Newmarket this journey. Loves racing fresh and showed that with a remarkable come-from-behind win in the 1100m Shorts last start claiming Overpass late. Loves this track and has finishing power.

3. Think About It (5)
Well, just how good is he? Thus far from his 11 race starts he has won 10 of them, two at Gr 1 level and last start when resuming in the Gr 2 Premier this trip he beat Hawaii Five Oh in stunning time this track. He never seems to win by much but he does win. Is an incredible racehorse and is unbeaten in 3 starts when 2nd up.

4. Mazu (11)
Seems to have lost touch with the best sprinters. Had a run there two years ago when he was right with them including Gr 1 wins and a great 3rd in this race last year. Was right alongside them when beaten 2 lengths behind In Secret in the Newmarket carrying 5.5kg more than her. Is trained here and loves the track. Was wide all the way when well beaten by Private Eye when resuming.

5. Overpass (2)
Is a very interesting competitor here. Mainly because he will lead and probably lead without pressure. Won the $4million Quokka this trip beating one of the very best gallopers in the land in Amelia’s Jewel and carrying 4kg more than her! Then was narrowly beaten into 2nd spot by Giga Kick in the Gr 1 Doomben 10,000. Spelled and was grabbed right on the line when leading in The Shorts over 1100m by Private Eye. Will give them something to catch.

6. Buenos Noches (8)
Is he the knock out horse? Has improved a great deal since game 7th to In Secret in the Gr 1 Newmarket. Last start for instance, when resuming, ran past her in the straight and dove late to just miss catching Private Eye and Overpass in the 1100m Shorts. Clearly looked the one who would benefit from a 1200m trip more than the others. Has claims.

7. Hawaii Five Oh (10)
Looks cherry-ripe for this. Is on home track too, although hasn’t won here in 3 attempts. Last start stormed home from 6th on bend in super fast time to just miss catching the much-hyped Think About It this trip here in the Gr 2 Premier. Is 3rd up now and did run a super fast 33.10sec last 600m. Is well up to winning this off that run.

8. Alcohol Free (7)
Interesting mare. Did win the Gr 1 July Cup in England carrying 59.5kg beating Artorius before coming here. Was just out-sprinted last 200m when looking a threat in the Gr 2 Premier last start when resuming behind Think About It and Hawaii Five Oh. Will derive a lot of benefit from that outing.

9. In Secret (12)
Has the gloss left her? Is 3rd up here and would have been my top pick had she drawn a marble. But from this gate will nearly have to ease back and could still find herself three deep as there are a few back-markers in this. Did win the Gr 1 Newmarket down the straight at Flemington this trip in very fast time. And was doing best work late when 4th to Private Eye in the 1100m Shorts. Loves this journey.

10. Espiona (3)
Does seem to be the forgotten horse in this field. Is a Gr 1 winner of the Coolmore over 1500m in fast time and in 2 runs this time up looks to be back to her very best. And her very best is frighteningly good. Last start, ran her last 600m in a brilliant 33.23sec carrying 58kg to win the Gr 2 Golden Pendent 1400m easily and hanging all the way down the straight. This is much harder but those times don’t lie. Big threat.

11. Shinzo (6)
Outstanding 3YO who last season beat a crack field that included Cylinder to win the Gr 1 Golden Slipper this trip in good time. Didn’t look sharp at all when resuming last start and well beaten by Militarize last start and this appears a lot harder.

12. Cylinder (4)
Super colt who can win this. Was runner-up in the Gr 1 Golden Slipper last prep as a 2YO when hitting the front too soon in the straight. Since spell has overcome enormous difficulty to win the Gr 2 Run To The Rose in good time this trip and last start was a good thing beaten when losing by a nose in the 1400m Golden Rose in good time. Sat wide the whole way and has drawn perfectly in this.

13. Bella Nipotina (Em1) (13)
Classy Gr 1 mare who always runs well but rarely wins. Finished hard when beaten less than a length behind Think About It and Hawaii Five Oh last start. Place at best though.

14. Zapateo (Em2) (14)
Quality sprinting mare with a few Gr 1 placings to her credit but was comfortably beaten by Think It Over in the Premier last start when 5th. Not keen.

15. King Of Sparta (Em3) (15)
This is a really good racehorse who deserves his place in this field. Can run with these and last start when resuming at Flemington under 59kg he ran 2nd in a Gr 2 running fast time.

Goes very well first up but probably won’t get a start in this. And looks tested anyway.
