- ROSEHILL - RACE 8
- (1800M)
- November 11, 2023
1. Converge (1)
Such an unpredictable horse who may be the forgotten galloper here. is a Gr 1 winner and can finish like a train when his mind is on the job. Didn’t do that in the Prelude when beaten 7 lengths. Draw is favourable though and can show up on best form.

2. Palmetto (3)
Just a tough dude who always puts in. Beautifully ridden by Kath O’Hara last start and it was his guts and her ride that got him home narrowly in the Prelude. Has not won past a mile and that’s a problem but has drawn perfectly and is in form. O’Hara retains the ride.

In Form
3. Antino (2)
This looks his for the taking. Is in superb form, has form around top Gr 1 horses to his credit and has the absolute perfect draw here. Sits up in 3rd on the fence all the way. He should angle off the rails when they turn and is fit enough to out kick these.

Ready to Fire
4. Hoo Ya Mal (15)
Probably is pushed out of the gates to find a spot on the pace. When he is stepped up to the big Gr 1 staying races, he can’t fire up but when in these type of races he is very tough to get past. Beaten half a length when on speed all the way to Montefilia in the Gr 2 Hill Stakes over 1900m recently. That makes him a player.

5. Hinged (13)
Just doesn’t seem her old self this prep. Is getting back and not sprouting wings late like she can. At her best she can win. Last start only moderate late when 8th to Pride Of Jenni in fast run Gr 1 at Flemington. Probably wants the sting out of the ground. Is trained here.

Good on Soft
6. Jimi Hendrix (12)
British miler who has placed at Gr 2 level in England at Royal Ascot no less. Clearly has a lot of ability but the mid race tempo will be super hot here and that’s something he is just not used to. I suspect he runs on late and may sneak a place at nice odds.

7. Democracy Manifest (11)
Looks very hard to beat. Finished brilliantly from last on bend to easily win the Gr 3 Cameron over 1400m beating Palmetto and Spangler, but of whom have won important races since. Then, he should have nearly won the Gr 1 Epsom before set an impossible task when finishing brilliantly for 4th in the Prelude. Is trained here, change of jock a huge help, and should be flying home.

Ready to Fire
8. Hope In Your Heart (17)
Much travelled mare who is having no luck in her races. Deep all the way when 6th in fast run Gr 1 Epsom, then midfield all the way when beaten 5 lengths in the Gr 1 King Charles. Last start in very fast run Gr 1 Empire Rose in Melbourne she just got too far back and had to weave between runners late when 9th. Is much better than that. At her best she wins this comfortably. But, again, drawn horribly so needs to drop out to find a spot.

Good on Soft
9. Zoumon (4)
likes to lead and probably will drive forward here. Is 2nd up after a fading 11th in the Prelude when resuming last start. Travelled on speed and just weakened late. Fitter now but a few like to be handy early so may need the run.

Track Talent
11. Detonator Jack (8)
Looks and maps perfectly for this. Ridden a treat at latest start when flashing home from midfield on bend to miss by a nose in the Prelude over 1500m. Has won at 2100m and is 4th up from spell here, so trip is ideal. Drawn to get a great run and should find clear space as they turn. Big, big show.

Ready to Fire
12. Unspoken (7)
Seems to be getting better with racing and last start when taken to the unfamiliar role of leader from the get-go, was simply dominant. Goes up in weight and class here but three wins from three starts this time up suggests he is flying and drawn well. Chance.

Proven Winner
13. Waterford (18)
The bad draw represents a major issue. Is trained here so loves the track but will probably have to ease early and even then there is no guarantee of finding a spot. Can run on though as he showed in the Prelude when finishing hard and just missing. Too much against him however.

Good on Soft
15. Regal Lion (Em1) (14)
Resumes here and has very ordinary first up form. Can stay but this is a bridge too far while fresh.

Likes Dry Track
16. Fawkner Park (Em2) (16)
Probably drops back to near the rear from this horrow draw but if he gets clear running in the straight he can win this. Sat three deep all the way in the 1500m Prelude yet still finished hard to grab 5th. Is better suited to this journey than most of them. Have in your numbers.

Ready to Fire
17. St Lawrence (Em3) (9)
Roughie who might run a bit of a race. Was whacking away in 6th spot behind Palmetto in the Prelude to Palmetto over 1500m. More experienced with the track now and has won this journey. Could sneak a place.
-
Good on Soft
18. Touristic (Em4) (10)
Is a BM 78 who is in form and can run time but that level is too far below what is needed here.
