Preview – Winx Stakes

Outstanding galloper at this level and at this trip and while fresh. Does resume here but hasn’t raced for well over a year. Trialled impressively when beaten a head under restraint by Mo’unga recently. There is money for him and this looks a nice race if he is back to his best.

Such a war horse. Has proven to be a money-making machine over the years compiling over $10million in prizemoney. Goes very well this track. Goes well fresh, loves this trip and grows a leg when the track is damp. They are the positives. But, he is now a 9-year-old. Should be right in this however.

I do suspect this bloke is the dark horse here. He ended his campaign last prep with placings in the Gr 1 Chipping Norton, Ranvet and a great 2nd in the QE 11 behind the champion Dubai Honour. Trialled very impressively the other day and goes well fresh. I think he might be in for a great campaign – probably his best ever – and will be flying home in this.

This bloke is interesting. He’s known as a stayer but he can sprint and he goes very well fresh. Resumes here and is a Gr 1 which is a concern but he will be making ground late at big odds. May pay to have in your numbers as your roughie.

Very impressive on his day and did win an age Gr 1 race here over a mile. When stepped up to senior ranks he didn’t show up. But two recent trials now he is a 4-year-old have been solid. Can sneak a place.

Is 2nd up here after running 9th of 10 when resuming. That stat when written like that makes him look poor, but he sat just behind the speed, moved off the fence and made what looked like a winning move then was badly bumped by a rival and the scrimmage caused him to ease out of the race. He loves it damp and he loves this trip. Can atone at big odds.

Horrible draw means he will have to drop back early to find a spot and that giving away a start may prove too hard first up. But, he is very talented and he has a great record on slow ground. Can run home very strongly. Has a rough place shot because he is on the improve and did win a good horse’s race at the end of last prep over 2000m.

He resumes here after running 17th in the Gr 1 Doncaster at his latest race. Did win a trial the other day very impressively. Hughie back from Hong Kong rides him here. Now, I suspect he charges out from this horror draw and finds the front. He’s a 4-year-old now, is a Gr 1 winner and will run these along at a great clip. Has won this trip and on a soft track.

Interesting runner. Has trialled really impressively, resumes here, and this comes after leading nearly all the way to win the Gr 1 ATC Derby over 2400m last start. That was on a heavy track at huge odds. Absolutely loves it wet and is trained here. This looks too short and too tough but he will be running on.

Good multiple Gr 1 winning mare who can run on while fresh and does have good soft track stats. Will probably get back and run on but there a few a little more slick than her so not really keen in this.

So very talented and rates highly following a terrific trial. Is with Chris Waller now and this is her debut run for new trainer. Loves it wet and may just storm over the top of them all. Respect her.

Money is coming in from everywhere for her and given trainer Chris Waller has quite a number of runners in this and that his top jock, Jay Mac, has chosen her suggests she is going to be right in this finish. Loves this track and trip and should be in your numbers.

This is a good Gr 1 mare from the States and she will appreciate it being wet. Ran a terrific trial when close 3rd after leading behind the Slipper winner Shinzo and Zaaki. This is a big task first up but is obviously talented and should be on speed all the way.

Has had a year in Australia now and is ready to show her top class wares which she displayed when racing in the U.S at Gr 1 level. ran a great and close 2nd to Lindemann in recent trial when on speed and under restraint. Is pretty smart and may cause a huge shock here.

Top class racemare who resumes here. Loves it wet and has won at this track and a Gr 1 in the wet at this track. No one would be surprised if she won this. Will be on speed all the way and should be in your numbers.

Hard to line him up here. is a 3-year-old who has already won at Gr 1 level in Brisbane. Resumes here with no weight and did trial very well. I’ll be watching the money with him because we just don’t know how good he is. Has only raced three times.

Classy on the rise stayer who resumes here. This represents a large step up in grade but did trial well. Prefer n something easier though while fresh.

Is very talented and has won twice from just six starts, but a rise from his regular races to this level is a bridge too far. Has won in the past first up – but that was in restricted grade. This looks too tough.
