1. Observer (4)
Looks grades above these. Won like he wanted to last start and should do the same here. Very exciting colt.

Proven Winner
2. Highvol (15)
Nice return to form last start when making the pace and gutsy to the wire in the Geelong Derby Classic. Went under by a head to Azazel over 2200m. Has each way claims.

Good on Soft
3. Autumn Mystery (17)
In September was a maiden but since Blake Shinn has come on board, he’s won 2 in a row including the Gr 3 Norman Robinson over 2000m. Sat 4th to the bend and ground away too strongly. This is harder but is bred to run it right out. Bad draw is a worry.

Proven Winner
4. Miewa (8)
Looks like a dour stayer in the making. Has raced 7 times for just one win but he gets back and runs on so that is a help. Did that last start in slowly run Gr 3 Norman Robinson when 2nd, beaten 3/4 length, by Autumn Mystery. Should slot in and is a definite place chance.

5. Options (7)
Solid as a rock and reliable. Made stylish ground from near last on bend here to win the Super Impose from Miewa over 1800m. Last start got back a bit and didn’t seem suited to The Valley when making ground late for 5th to Observer. Better suited here. Big chance.

Ready to Fire
6. Providence (12)
Still a maiden after 8 runs and still a colt so they think highly of him. And after his flashy 2nd to the brilliant Observer last start in the Gr 2 Vase over 2040m you can see why. Looks like he will be at home on this track and trip too. Probably stays all day. Has claims.

7. Azazel (10)
Lightly raced but has a lot of talent. Scored twice from 3 runs, latest when running down Highvol to land the Geelong Derby over 2200m. Was on pace all the way so is pretty tough. Sure to be in this for a good while.

8. Arcora (11)
Looked like being a star last prep but since spell hasn’t shown much in 3 runs. Latest when plodding 5th to Azazel in 2200m Geelong Derby. Place at best.

Good on Soft
9. O'Sheamus (5)
Has talent and is getting better with racing. After winning a Warwick Farm maiden over 1600m in average time, he came south to Melbourne and was a solid 3rd to Observer in the Gr 2 Vase over 2040m. Will have settled into Victorian way of going now and looks like he can stay. Has claims.

10. Amazake (6)
Has talent but not a winner yet from 5 starts. Best was last start when on speed and a tough 3rd to Autumn Mystery and Miewa over 2000m. Trip may test.

11. Engine Of War (9)
Has ability but distance may be a worry. Won 1500m Sandown maiden in slow trime, then ran on when 2nd to Autumn Mystery over 1800m before being on speed and tiring when 7th to same horse over 2000m. Not keen.

12. Matsuda (19)
In strong stable and has talent. Won Sale maiden by 5 lengths but only plodded last start when well tried and 4th to Azazel in Geelong Derby. Got tired that day and this is stronger.

13. One Step Closer (2)
This all may be too soon for him. Can run and was doing best work late when 4th to Observer over 2040m last start. Isn’t really expected to trouble the top ones here.

14. Savisanta (3)
Bred to stay and has finishing power. Will probably use this good draw to boot up and sit about 6th early. If he gets into a good rhythm he may surprise a few as he is getting better with racing. Yet to win in 4 starts but has placed in all of them including last start when he made very good ground late for 3rd in Geelong Derby Classic over 2200m. Place show here.

15. Mcwoody (16)
Badly drawn and raced just twice, latest when unplaced behind Autumn Mystery. This grade may just be too soon for him.

16. Deal Done Fast (1)
Another talented maiden who may actually be pretty smart. Has run 4th at both starts recently behind Autumn Mystery making ground each run. This is harder but could sneak a place at huge odds.

17. Arabian Prince (Em1) (20)
Yet another maiden after 3 runs. All starts have been handy and he has talent. was beaten a length when making ground late in the Gr 3 Norman Robinson behind Autumn Mystery. Not real keen to be honest.

Good on Soft
18. Freddie Bassett (Em2) (14)
Maiden after 5 starts and was plodding 6th to Azazel in the Geelong Derby last start. This is way harder.

19. Crack A Deel (Em3) (13)
Won his maiden at the ‘Bool by a big space but was soundly beaten last start behind Observer in the Vase. Not keen.

20. Super Paradise (Em4) (18)
Unplaced in fact thrashed at past 3 starts in weaker grade. No.
