- Caulfield - Race 9
- (1400m)
- November 16, 2024
1. Southport Tycoon (13)
Top class Gr 1 winner but where does he get to in the run? Probably drops a fair way back then charge home. Got too far back in the $10million Golden Eagle over 1500m and finished 9th, beaten just 3 lengths. If he is close enough on the bend, he wins this.

3. Tuvalu (16)
Resumes here but boasts a terrific first-up record. Led all the way under a big weight to win the 1200m Wangoom last start before spell. Is always tough and from this gate probably fires out while fresh and gets up on the steel early. Loves it wet. Place show.

Good on Soft
4. Another Wil (5)
Absolutely loves this trip having won 4 races and 2 of them at this track. Last start was simply too swift for rival here Jimmysstar in good time. Is in form and drawn to get the run of the race. Big threat.

Proven Winner
5. Gentleman Roy (9)
Another one who simply loves this distance. Did win the Gr 2 Lawrence Stkes over 1400m in Aug beating Pinstriped here. Likes to get up on the speed and if they go at a sensible speed he will be there as they turn and will fight hard to the end. Each way hope.

6. Climbing Star (6)
Top class mare who is 3rd up here and is ready to pounce. Drawn to be in about 8th spot to the bend and the trip now should test. Is yet to win at this journey from a few starts but has been getting back and running on hard over 1200m lately. Did win the Gr 1 Sangster over 1200m last prep.

7. Jimmysstar (1)
Loves this track and is yet to be beaten here in two runs and goes very well this trip. Made up good ground late when 2nd to Another Wil over 1400m in the Gr 2 Linlithgow at Flemington. Is very fit, has drawn the fence which might be a worry as he will be cluttered up on the rails, but can fire late.

8. Kimochi (15)
Bad draw doesn’t help as she likes to press forward early and that means she may be 3-deep all the way. Has not quite been finishing her races off the past couple. Is capable on her day but place show here.

9. Buffalo River (12)
Former star speed horse who likes to get out and roll. This might be too hard nowadays. At his best he could lead all the way but those days have passed.

Good on Soft
10. Charm Stone (3)
Talented lightly-raced mare who was placed at Gr 3 level over 1200m last start. Another one who gets back and will run on. Rough place hope.

11. Chrysaor (7)
Not racing well enough. Was beaten 10 lengths when 18th in the Golden Eagle last start. Not keen.

Good on Soft
12. Roll On High (10)
Is 2nd up here after a good 6th to Belclare last start in very fast time this trip. Yet to win while 2nd up but can run time on her day and may sneak a place at big odds.

13. Run Harry Run (2)
Has talent but in recent starts has been beaten 8 length by Southport Tycoon, 2.25 lengths by Another Wil and 4 lengths by Jimmysstar each time carrying similar weight. Will be on speed and may hang on for a placing.

14. Steparty (8)
Started $18 and ran best race for a while when on speed and beaten 2 lengths by Another Will last start this trip. Is fit and light weight helps but should still struggle.

15. War Machine (4)
Comes into this race with a huge chance. Carried 57.5kg and was on speed for a long while when beaten 3 lengths in the Golden Eagle over 1500m last start. Prefers this trip and his huge drop in weight is a major advantage. Looks to get the run of the race too. Have in your numbers.

16. Bittercreek (11)
Smart 3YO who probably gets back but will love this trip. was 8th to Switzerland in Gr 1 over 1200m last start and is fitter now. Place show.
