Gr 1 QTC Oaks Preview

Is rock solid, can run all day and last start when making a massive amount of ground in the Gr 2 Roses when 5th to Scarlet Oak says she is ready to burn these late. Likes to get back and should be one off in about 10th nearing the bend then will come home hard. Big danger.

Last start was too bad to be true. She led and was the first horse beaten when they turned for home in the race won by Scarlet Oak over 2000m. Is better than that and is the likely leader. Won in the mud leading all the way the run prior over 1800m in stakes grade beating Molly Bloom. Worth another chance.

This is a special racehorse but is she Gr 1 material after just 4 starts? Certainly made us all think so last start when perfectly ridden by Jay Mac when landing the chocolates over 2000m in the Gr 2 Roses over 2000m. That followed an easy win in the mud over a mile at Newcastle. Keeps rising in grade but just keeps winning so must be strongly fancied.

Extra smart Kiwi filly on the quick backup from her game 2nd in the Gr 1 Derby behind Warmonger. Had a bad gate so went right back to bear last to find a slot then circled the field. Seems to handle the wet tracks and is extremely fit. No doubt she sits a fair bit closer in the run this time from this draw and looms as the one they all have to beat.

Good, reliable type but not sure she is a genuine Gr 1 horse at this trip. Is very fit mind you and did make ground late when beaten 6 lengths to Scarlet Oak last start but may struggle last 200m in this grade.

Brings Melbourne form into this race. Likes to get out and be with the pace and should be able to do just that here. Is fit. Last start under 58kg at Randwick turned 2nd in strong 3YO race and was beaten just over a length. My doubt is the last 200m at this level.

Here’s the dark horse of this field. She can stay and she is very fit. Up near lead all the way in the mud when beaten 4 lengths in the 1800m Bracelet by Amazonian Lass and Molly bloom. Then from horrible gate went back to last in big field before charging home for 3rd to Scarlet oak. Bad draw again so probably snags up to find a spot but if she gets cover she can bound home hard. Big player.

Tough filly who can stay all day. Easily won the 2800m St Leger in Melbourne on a good track. Then was 5th, about 3 lengths behind Coco sun and subsequent Derby winner Warmonger in the Gr 1 SA Derby. Probably goes back from this gate but can handle adversity and will be bobbing away at the end. Have in your numbers.

Good improving Sydney filly who knocked over subsequent Gr 1 winner Autumn Angel in the Gr 3 Adrian Knox on a wet track then hit the line well when 7th to Scarlet oak last start beaten 3 lengths. Did get 8kg in the Adrian knox but is improving and likes it wet.

This is a smart, improving filly who must be respected. Past two runs have been in stakes races and she has placed both times, latest when charging at her stablemate Scarlet oak and just missing in the Gr 2 Roses. is very tough, gets back and runs home hard. This trip looks ideal as well. major player.

Is extremely fit and has been up a fair while. Saying that, her form is strong for this. Has run on from the home turn in each of her last 6 starts, latest when solid closing 4th to Scarlet Oak and Mare Of Mt buller last start in the Gr 2 Roses over 2000m. Gives the impression this trip will suit and has claims.

Handy filly who is bred to stay but hasn’t shone in recent stakes races so looks tested here also.

Winner only once from 11 starts but hasn’t been far away in all the main lead-up races including beaten 3 lengths by Scarlet Oak last start. A win would surprise but could run on into a place at big odds.

Bred to stay and did win 3 on the bounce in weaker country grade recently. This will test though.

More than handy filly who is a last-start winner, albeit in a low key Class 1. Both her wins have been on wet tracks. In a strong staying stable but is rising a long way in grade.

Is talented but may be a length or so inferior to the very best. Beaten 6 lengths when an $8 chance in the Gr 1 SA Oaks then last start just behind pace when beaten half a length in a BM 72 at randwick. Rough place show.

Handy and is stakes placed recently behind Waikato Girl this track over a mile but may lack finishing power over this trip. Not keen.

Restricted grade galloper with some talent but this looks way too hard.

Outside place hope. Carried 61kg on a heavy track over this trip last start and bolted in – but it was a low-key BM 58. this is many lengths harder but has stocked a couple of important boxes.

Stakes placed staying Victorian who is far from being the worst here. Bolted in over 2200m at Bendigo last start looking a million dollars. TRhis is a lot harder but she can stay and has to be considered.

Fair filly but wouldn’t win this with a headstart.
