1. Jimmysstar (11)
Looks the best placed horse all day. Is a cut above these when he is right and he seems to be ready to fire. I can’t wait to back him.

Ready to Fire
2. Private Eye (3)
Classy galloper who always produces, especially this time of year. Capable of storming home and is fresh enough to take advantage of this great gate and be there all the way. Have in your numbers.

3. Another Wil (19)
Horrible gate at this track and that probably beats him. Has beaten Mr Brightside in the past at level weights and is dynamite while fresh. He resumes here. A better draw and he’s right in it but place show from out there.

Ready to Fire
4. Rothfire (15)
Former grand old local horse but last start he did nothing in easier race. Goes well this track, has won over $4million but this just may be beyond him now, especially from this gate.

Track Talent
5. Uncommon James (14)
Is very fast early and tends to be a contender this grade. But, last start when leading until they turned at Eagle Farm in a Gr 2, he folded like a cheap suit and finished last. Is better than that and does not like a heavy track.

6. Reserve Bank (17)
Very capable on his day and is a 1200m Gr 1 winner. Resumed from a year long spell to finish 6th in the mud last start behind Splash Back @ Gr 2 level. Fitter now but may need another run.

7. Private Harry (4)
Former star sprinter who has lost his past 3 starts easily. Latest was on a heavy at Eagle Farm when 2nd for home he wilted to 8th. This is harder, but does like it damp.

Good on Soft
8. Warnie (9)
Good sprinter who just keeps improving every campaign. Won in super fast time over 1400m last prep at Gr 2 level. Resumed from spell on heavy track last start when impressive 3rd at gr 2 behind Splash Back. Was rushing home. Is good 2nd up, likes it damp and is ready to run well.

9. Zarastro (5)
Good local speedster who will put a lot of early starch into the race but isn’t strong late. Looks tested.

10. Payline (16)
Likes it wet and got that last start in the Victory Stakes. Always handy when 2nd to Splash Back. Is in form and is a strong local hope.

11. Devil Night (8)
Winner of only one race from 9 starts but did finish 2nd to perhaps the best 1200m runner in the land last start, named Tempted. They ran astonishing time that day. On that run alone he rates very highly. Oh, and that one win – was a Gr 1 at 1200m!

Ready to Fire
12. Grafterburners (7)
Is very much the sleeping giant here because he can run very fast time and loves this trip. Ran 1.08.68 last Dec with 56.5kg here and that time would win this. Zac Purton to ride, trialled well last week and drawn perfectly. Big danger.

13. Skybird (18)
Normally a smart mare at this level but did zero in the Gr 1 Sangster last start finishing last to Geegees Mistruth. Not likely.

15. Abounding (12)
16. Spicy Martini (2)
17. Beadman (1)
Very talented 3YO colt who has won 4 times but desperately needs a Gr 1 win to his name. Looked good winning easier race last start at the Gold Coast. Has failed at this level before but has the draw to sit just off speed and could cause a boilover.

18. Napoleonic (10)
Smart and improving colt. Resumes here and has a strong fresh record. Jay Mac riding is an interesting booking. He won on him in the Gr 3 Red Anchor very easily this trip last year. Watch betting.
