Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s race meetings and singles out his top three horse racing tips from Belmont this afternoon.

What a chess match this race is. Willy Pike up against a couple of 3kg apprentices and two Parnham boys, who are not on Neville Parnham’s preferred horse. Hmmm, So let’s unpack this. CAPTAIN BURGLAR, according to jock placements can’t win because Parnham has not put one of his boys on. He does saddle two runners, the other a slow maiden named CHOICE BID. So it can’t win either. Pike will improve COMEALILBITCLOSER who resumes here but is the rank outsider of the field. COMANCHE CHANT is fascinating because he hasn’t raced yet and is still a colt. But, he’s on debut against a field that have collectively won several races. That leaves HOW’S THE SERENITY with 3kg claimer Holly Watson on top. The horse can run at this level and has been an absolute model of consistency since resuming. Can lead all the way. Let’s hope so.

 Tip: HOW’S THE SERENITY

This will be a good contest as there are a bunch of unraced types and the ones who have had experience aren’t really good. So, I think QUIDS with Willy Pike on, who is on debut, can land the cash. This reasoning because of Pike booking, but also because she won a recent trial quite comfortably, has the inside gate, and has been backed overnight. Maybe toss in VRANYO for 2nd in your quinella bet.

Tip: QUIDS

I do think there are various rules of thumb in racing that should always be forwarded. Mares in form, heavy track winners on heavy tracks, home track advantages etc, and of course if a Willy Pike mount is backed overnight. We get that here with PERFECT GEM who is 4th up and drawn the rails. Enough said.

Tip: PERFECT GEM
